The New LAWS says that Drivers can still use CB's while driving. It says Drivers CAN NOT USE CELL PHONES even with bluetooth!

Maybe I'm missing something, but my fleet safety person told us Bluetooth is fine. We're not allowed to use a handheld phone or press more than one button to make or receive a call is my understanding.

    Bighig Thanks this.

The new law states that you can no longer use handheld cell phones. You can use bluetooth as long as your company says its ok.The law does not ban all cell phone use only hands on.

Range is boosted by ensuring you have a good antenna as tall on the truck as you can get), good coax, and a low SWR of (preferably) 1.5:1. A 2.0:1 SWR is "ok" but is only getting out 89% of your message. Anything 3.0:1 SWR is not good.

Also your radio has single side band so if another trucker has single side band on his CB, you can both pick what channel you want to run on, then if you want to run on upper sideband or lower, then "tune" each other in with the clarifier. You can talk a little farther on sideband than you can on regular AM CB. I'd pick a channel that's not used often when you do sideband, in other words, don't pick 19 for a sideband channel.

Well that's stupid...you should ask the company why. I know it won't make them change their mind but really it's stupid...talking on the CB is not the same as talking on a cell phone or texting. Do they have a black box on the truck somewhere that will tell them if you're on your CB?
