if you would have done your research. then you know the w9 is the worst truck to buy as they get one of the worst fuel mileages. low 5's vs. a freightliner in the mid 7's. and with the climbing prices of fuel.

but congrats anyways. anytime you're not a company pig is always a happy camper.

    W9s only get 5mpg if you're driving like a 15 year old.

I averaged 6.8mpg in a 379 before I'd even learned how to revmatch, and that was pulling a skateboard.

I've been getting high 7s in a 386 with a plugged EGR and trashed DPF.

It doesn't matter what you're driving, its how you drive it.

"If i had done my research?" . Well I drove the truck i just bought for 6 months as a company driver and never dropped below 6.5 mpg with it. I even hit 7mpg one trip to texas ,and it has a c15 acert caterpillar engne. I technically did 6 months research first hand on the truck i bought . Thanks for your well wishes I do appreciate them but your way off on the "no homework" comment. As barroll said , if you know how to drive them properly they are just as capable of good mileage as any other truck out there. By the way what do you think the resale on a freightliner century or colombia etc will be in 3 years when i want to upgrade to a newer truck? I bet you it wont be worth the plastic its made out of. My w9 will still have a very goods resale value and still be good quality truck long after a junkliner fleet POS has fallen apart. So yeah i did do my homework , fuel wise and business wise.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

    LOL! Good job, KW9's Rock!

You've done your research, saved your money, put your time in, asked the right questions, and heeded to the right answers. You've got a good work ethic and paid for yourself a good truck. I believe you're on your way to success. Go git 'em young feller!

Deadhead is a killer at $4 a gallon, so be careful not to spend your profit getting to your next load.
    Good luck and God bless.

Good luck. I started when fuel was well less than a $1 a gallon had a good plan and was still scared ######## but wouldn't change a thing. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and that IMHO the most important thing to being a O/O. Don't listen to the naysayers, there will always be some out there telling you that you can't do this or can't do that, than you will come to learn the reason most of them say that is because they failed at it. I just bought a different truck and a close friend told me the other day if you aint nervous about buying any truck than you are either stupid or have no business being a O/O.
