Even though Kim told me that I could get my passport all set up when I got to Marshfield, I found that I can get it locally at the clerk of courts office, picture and all. With the 4-6 week wait, that means I SHOULD have my passport in hand and be ready and able to border hop by the time I'm in a trainer's truck, instead of having to wait. I got the passport CARD, as I don't see a need for air travel over borders...unless it's Flight for Life or something emergency-ish like that. Cost me $30 for the card, $25 for filing fees and $10.50 for the photo. Not as expensive as I was afraid it would be, and convenient since everything was in one location.
The only thing I was warned about was that if I got my passport now, I would need a certified copy of my birth certificate to send with the paperwork AND I need one to take to Marshfield...and if I waited to have Roehl apply for me, I think I would only need one copy. Since I just happen to have two copies, this isn't a problem, but I can see how it could be.
It's nice to feel like I'm actually doing something other than twiddling my thumbs...and I'm appreciative of Kim's assistance so I know I'm doing what needs to be done to keep on track.

I hope that you get a great of a male trainer as I was fortunate to get. He is still a very good friend. Always willing to give advice even though it has been years since I was a student in his truck. Keep us posted on your adventures.

Well, moved up my start date for school to April 30th. Cant wait to drive again (or work) been out of work coming up on a year and out of driving for 10. Chose Roehl because of all the positives on this forum. All the negatives seem to come from what I used to hear when I was at the terminals. Nobody wants to run....I was a company driver for Dart Transit (Allpoints which is now DARTCO) and that was 95% O/O. I took better runs than them and they had first choice. Anyway cant wait to get started and thanks for all the info.

Kim called me this morning to touch base and make sure I'm still ready to start April 9. My boyfriend heard her asking and yelled, "she's ready YESTERDAY! Just take her!!" Gee, it's so nice to know I'm wanted at home.

2 weeks and counting...Treefork and notezbngrn71 Thank this. -
Thanks for this thread. I just started CDL school on weekends. Will finish mid May. I drive a school bus and want to finish the school year in early June before heading off to a training program. Have pre-hire from Roehl, SNI and (gasp) Werner. Sort of liking the idea of flatbed money but at age 63 not sure I want the work. Reefer seems pretty good as well. Look forward to following your adventure here.

Hey, T-Lady.. I'll be heading to RDTC on April 9th as well. Been out of work for about two months now (can't say I haven't enjoyed it..lol).

Wow...that makes half the April 9 class on this site...cool!

Kim called again this morning to make sure things are still all good. Which they are. Less than a week to go before I'm headed to Marshfield...still finding things to buy to help when I go solo. And the boyfriend is still trying to get me to leave early. I might have to be SUPER annoying to him this week just for that.

He's probably saying this because he knows you need to DO SOMETHING!!! My wife was like that when I took off. She knew I was needing to work and sitting at home was only making me CRAZY!

Then again....... Ah, let's not talk about that.

Lmao! I know, he wants me gone so i can be working and making a little money instead of sitting here b()ching about not working...maybe i can get him to come to the terminal and check out whatever truck I get...it would be nice to have him to DOT it before I take it...prob wishful thinking, he's a busy boy!!
