I've been in trucking for a total of four and a half months and the patented doesn't matter at first. Just focus in delivering your loads on time, then your dispatcher will start to give you longer loads.

This has been fairly well thought out..talked with friends people in the business ..Shut down everything and ready to pack it all in storage..Dedicate the next few months to learning the business end..Know and understand the driving part well..Have 3 offers to start on the 10th..Like the prospects of two of them and found other companies that I have applied with today..Have never failed at what I start out to accomplish..Ran a construction business for 9 years and spent 95% of my time on the road and in hotels..so ready to go..just feeling around for others who have been there and done that..All the replies are appreciated..

hi
I'm sorta in the same boat, I dont have my cdl yet and have been checking into companies. I looked at Prime but decided against them because your with a trainer for 4 to 6 months before you get your own truck. they dont start your 12 month for schooling until you get your own truck either. so total your working for them for a year and a half. I decided to go with central, 2 weeks in school and then 5 weeks with a trainer and you only pay for half of school as long as you stay a year -
Thanks..spoke with FFE today..sounds good so far..18 day school..spend 6 weeks with a trainer..then you own truck..do a year and schools free..

Harley I started with Central Refrigerated. Went through their school in Fontana and drove for them for a year and then went elsewhere for better money. That was in the Fall of 2005. I will say I got good runs, was always able to get home to SoCal when I needed and I STAYED AWAY FROM THEIR LEASE PROGRAM.
bama_kid_21 Thanks this. -
Thanks Bumper...I will call them..

What ever you decide to do don't get pulled into a lease. You said you use to have your own business which great. First thing is you need to lean to be a truck driver before trying to be an owner operator /lease operator. You need to learn time management as far as you logs go. Don't take that the wrong way ..just a lot of guys / gals wanna start at the top and I'm sure you know how well that usually turns out. Just my 2 cents anyway, good luck trucking is what you make it.
