It isn't 1968 anymore.. if it was back then, I would agree with you fellows. But it isn't.. With modern technology, automatic transmissions, CDL mills, it no longer takes a special breed to do this job.. it takes any breed. I know you old timers are stuck in your mind set, but Swift/Werner/Schneider prove everyday, that any idiot with a little bit of common sense and hand-eye-foot coordination can drive a truck, and be semi-productive at it. Talk about arrogance. lol. Most of you what guys say, is just plain stupid. You can think as you want, but I am a safe and efficient driver. Speed limits everywhere, and don't do anything stupid.. I chew and spit out this road everyday.. It's not difficult anymore old timer, so go back to your rocking chair, and read your paper. Us "newbies" will pay your retirement, don't worry.

The thing of it is, none of you are stating any facts to prove me other wise. Sure, you guys keep beating the dead stress horse. But stress is a personal emotion or feeling, and completely subjective. A situation you may stress about, may be a situation I thrive in. I get to drive down the road, listen to music, and don't have to listen to some one screaming, "### holes and elbows, kid". Trying to figure out where to put your foot next, so you don't plummet to your death, that's stress lol. I guess all of your life experiences also play in to what stresses you out. I don't get nervous or stressed out very easily, but I guess that's just me. You guys are doing nothing but throwing out personal attacks at my age or amount of experience I have, adding nothing to this topic.

I have lived in Ohio all of my life, right at the tip of the snow belt, and right in the Lake Effect hot zone. Drove through quite a few bad storms in 2010.. Including several in Iowa, and the mountains in Virginia. Also, no one was tooting their own horn, just adding background and fact to my point of "hard work" being fresh in my mind.

I will quote an old school Iron worker, "Dont fear the Iron, but have a healthy respect for it.. " The same applies to the road. If you guys spent your career being nervous, and afraid, no wonder you think it's "hard work". Confidence is not a curse! I'm smart enough to know the difference between being ####y and confidence. I take pride in everything I do, and am confident about it too.. otherwise I wouldn't do it.

I have Grand Kids your age, So watch with the Old Timers coments, were Crusty Ol Drivers, Here. And to sit in our rocking chairs and read the newspapers, we will, but, hope its not news about you wrecking your truck and hurting someone. 2 years experience, Is Sqwat. With modern technology, automatic transmissions, CDL mills, it no longer takes a special breed to do this job.. it takes any breed. I know you old timers are stuck in your mind set, but Swift/Werner/Schneider prove everyday, that any idiot with a little bit of common sense and hand-eye-foot coordination can drive a truck. This coment is about the dumbest I have ever read, well, maybe one of the dumbest. You are angry because, your a PEE-WEE driver, and want to be considered a driver with 20 plus years driving. Lets see if you even make 3 years with that kind of attitude. Your heading down a very dark road. Good Luck.

I actually agree with the guy. Truck drivers have the tendancy to embellish the difficulty of this job.

The OP stated: Is it really easy? I can tell you from my experience, these days its even harder. The new drivers, with Automatics, 3-4 weeks in a CDL Mill, and turned loose on the road. They have no clue!!! Time is the only way we will see. The Drivers that made it 5 - 10 years and Have No Accidents, Tickets, Incidents, have a GREAT start, and for the ones that could not make it, trucking is not on your side.
TIME is the only way to see. No other way.

lol.. Once again, assuming things.. I didn't go through a CDL Mill.. I went through an accredited school, for 3 months, perfect attendance, perfect score on ALL tests.. 2 years isn't sqwat, your right.. But after seeing some of the idiots out on the road, and in truck stops, it really doesnt take anyone special to drive these things.. You idiots can continue to complain and whine about how rough it is, and pat yourself on the back because your one of the few who made it.. but there isn't just a few who make it.. thousands upon thousands do..

If it was that hard to make it in this industry, there'd be a tv show about it. So continue to make this job way more than it is.. and act like your some type of special person who can handle it.. Because your not fooling this guy. Thats for #### sure.

19 out of 21 people in my schooling passed. If it was such a horribly hard job, and took a "special" breed, that wouldn't be the case. All it takes is a good instructor, and just about anybody can learn to drive a truck.. Seriously stop acting like Truckers are so superior to anyone.. Half of the kids in my class were more dumb than some of you crusties... hard to believe, I know.

I am not mad at all, lmao. Although I know how much it annoys you old timers to see "just anyone" doing your job and career as good as, or better than you. I know you WANT to think your special, and you did something not a lot of people do, but your so wrong it isn't even funny. haha. Cracks me up when you guys think this.. Hard work, haha.. gtfo.

Like I said before, stress is subjective.. As is hard work.. Sure, if your 5'6", 280lbs, and out of shape.. any job you have is going to be hard.. ####, even getting in and out of your truck is probably hard for you.

You have a bad attitude and will not make it in this industry, just a matter of months and you`ll screw up. You IDIOTS that think you know it all, know Sqwat. If you think it was easy for me in the past 38 years, your wrong. And for the Thousand upon Thousands, I can assure you, It was not easy for them also, but I cant personally speak for all. I can guarantee you, with a bad attitude your on a road to nowhere.
