When i was making some good money working in a dealership i used to tip waitresses a large amount. I have tipped mechanics, hotel staff, cleaning crews, we usually get a gift for our mailman for christmas, i have even tipped the girl scouts. And from all this i get a great feeling and some great karma. Most food service and other not so great jobs get paid less than min wage or right at min wage which is crap pay. I know gizmo said why not get a better job but some of these people are already working more than one job or that is the only job they could find at the time. (have you seen the job market lately?) So i will always tip someone for good service no matter what the job. If my tax guy works hard and gets me a big refund i even tip him. Mainly because i would never be able to do that for myself.

So in conclusion: Pay it forward.

There are stories all the time about single parents attempting to raise a family on waitstaff pay. And how somehow that makes it incumbent on me to give them a little extra because of their situation. Sorry not my problem.

Phrases like Sharing wealth, unfortunate, poor tend to set me off. People are exactly where they are by the decisions they made.

Some letter carriers go way beyond what is required . When we had a state of emergency due to snow just before Christmas several years ago roads were impassable for USPS delivery vehicles . Letter carriers with SUV's used their person vehicles to get Christmas parcels delivered before Christmas . If they had stayed home they would have been paid for the day .

It's NOT my problem if it snows and the roads are impassable. So what the letter carriers used thier own SUV's and such. They probably submitted a voucher for fuel.

How they deliver the mail, is of NO CONCERN on my part. IT WAS THEIR JOB TO DO IT!! It's what they get PAID FOR!!!

My opinion to anyone that thinks THEY DESERVE a tip, just because I bought something from them, or paid for a service..??

Just "do your job", accept whatever pay you get, and take that "tip jar" and jam it, as no one that gets paid a wage, (other than a waitress) deserves any tip.

again, "a fool and his money, are soon departed".
