Ok. Went through orientation on the 28th/29th of March. Things seemed to be going great. Orientation finished out Friday morning, and guys were getting loads. Evidently they picked two of us out of the 18 in class and said we couldn't do anything until we completed the "SMITH" system program. I'm fine with that, but the fact that I had to wait until Saturday to do it was a bit annoying.

Issued my truck on Friday, wrote it up to have inverter installed (CPAP machine requires one), and fix the AC (which was blowing hot air). They said no problem and got right on top of it. Monday afternoon rolls around and they finally put the truck in the shop. 5pm they told me it would be finished tomorrow (tues). Tuesday rolls around about 1pm and they said it's done. I start the truck, still blowing hot, so I went back into the shop and they told me they installed a new compressor, condenser and a few other things.

When I informed them that the a/c still didn't work, they sent the truck over to the International dealer, which held it for 2 days as well and still didn't fix it. It's now Thursday, of the next week, they are only giving me $70 to eat on for the weekend, and I may now be looking at getting a different truck, writing it up to have my inverter installed, and hopefully this one wont take all weekend.

I'm rather disappointed in these guys, and I feel I've been so very patient about everything. This isn't happening to everyone, just a couple guys every couple weeks from what I'm gathering from other people.

So it's a hit and miss program I think, not bad for everyone, but who wants to gamble?

Hope this post is helpful to those interested in coming on with SRT. I'm considering a flatbed company out of Alabama (WTI) and saying to hell with refers for the rest of my career.

Hope yall have a great day,

Most carriers have limited shop personnel on the weekends to control their cost which means nothing to you, your ready to go to work.
With all the tractors around why can't they just assign you another unit or give you a "loaner" till they get that one repaired correctly ?
Seems freight might be slow & there hold things up till freight picks up ?
Just my thoughts after reading your thread.
Good Luck. Be Bless, Be Well, Keep Safe.

That's what I asked them. They said I would have several day wait because of backups in the shop to have my inverter moved. It's a week past orientation now though. They just came and told me they don't have any more open trucks to let me switch (while typing this), and that it may be this weekend before I can get out of here. Which will most likely mean Monday. I am doing my best to be patient, but they wont give me ANY of the "layover" pay until I haul a load...and I'm running out of cash for food.

Run driver run. Should have left on Monday if they won't pay you now for down time what makes you think that it will get any better on down the road.

Well. It's now Friday and no update on my truck. WTI in Tuscaloosa says they will bring me in this weekend and all is approved. I'm going to hop on the bus and head over to them. Haven't really found anything negative about them. So screw refers I'm just gonna go back to flatbedding lol.

You guys have a great day and thanks for all the responses

I'm not sure that I wouldn't have stuck it out with them. Rarely do things happen within our timetable, but it sounds as though they were at least trying. At any rate, good luck in future endeavors, and remember, patience is a must in this industry.

    Patience my ###.

He sat through a week of orientation at ZERO pay. Now he's into week 2 spending his own money for the most part and making ZERO dollars for his troubles.

They gave him $70. Big whoop.

Anyone willing to pay this mans bills while he waits on SRT to put him in a truck?

It's nice to see they're still the same POS company I left, many years ago. At least I KNOW made the right choice.
