4500 miles in a week, and also a trainer, and still $200.00 in the hole?If this true(I have doubts) This driver needs to look in the mirror, and see what the real problem is.
No Name 38 Thanks this. -
LET'S SEE C.R. ENGLAND IS BASED IN SALT LAKE CITY UUU....TAAH ?
SO IF YOU FROM THERE OR SOME PART OF THE STATE & GOT SEVERAL WIVES TO KEEP THE FOLKS IN OPERATIONS THAT CONTROL YOUR MONEY ENTERTAINED WHILE YOUR ON THE ROAD GUESS YOU COULD MAKE MONEY THEN ??
I CALLED ENGLAND SEVERAL YEARS AGO, WANTED TO GET BACK INTO TRUCKING ?
MY EXPERIENCE OF OVER 35 YRS. THEY WANTED ME TO TRAIN (DRIVER SLAVE) WITH A TRAINER FOR 90 DAYS.
H.R. SOUNDED LIKE SHE WAS READING FROM A SCRIPT. MY EXPERIENCE DIDN'T MATTER, AND CHANCES WERE I'D HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE THEN MY DRIVER TRAINER.
I ENDED THE "CORNVERSATION" WITH "THANKS I'LL GET BACK TO YOU."
I GET EMAILS EVERY WEEK ABOUT "SWEET PROGRAMS" TO COME WORK FOR THEM.
FOR ANY NEW DRIVER STAY AWAY, GET YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR SOME PLACE ELSE.

I couldn't agree more that so called "trainers" whose only goal is to use a student as a second log book are unworthy of the title. Unfortunately, there's a lot of "trainers" out there that operate that way. I run for England, and just because I am happy here does not in any way make me a recruiter (because some driver will undoubtedly claim that anyone who doesn't hate their company must be a recruiter). Yes, England offers a lease program, and most drivers who lease don't have the money for a down payment, or the credit due to personal circumstances, so they lease and try to live the dream of becoming an owner-operator.
There's good and bad in every person, field and company out there. Drivers need to realize that every major carrier pretty much operates the same, the grass is no greener on the other side, and despite all the endless whining, facts are facts. Like any other carrier, it-is-a-business, not a charity. Of course they're out to make money, that's why any business exists, and why any one of us drives for anyone. People are always good for a laugh it seems. One need only have eyes and ears to be amused....Rumblestrip and Jackofalltrades1977 Thank this. -
Some ran light load most of the time and some had you heavy most of the time. Some had assigned dp's some would change dp's all the time. Some let you take the truck home some did not. Some paid what they owed without much effort some had to almost be threatened to pay up or else.
If you are getting home when you want and getting the money you need then there is no reason to change probably.
But one other thing I look at is how easy does the company make it for me to get home and make that money and this is where the grass can get greener.BigMuthaTrucka Thanks this. -
Granted, there are variables no matter where you are. But, all I was saying is that in a generalized nut shell, all carriers have the same goal. Moving freight. Some companies are more considerate than others, and no matter where you wind up, you're sure to find current and former drivers who love, hate, or are indifferent toward the carrier. But, all companies are primarily concerned with profits, that's why they exist. Just as not all companies are the same, neither are all drivers.
Personally, I prefer to stay out on the road and only go home for 2-3 days every couple of months (more than that and cabin-fever and a sense of wanderlust kicks in). I like running, and don't mind forced dispatch at all (probably a good attribute since I intend to lease soon), and am quite at home in my little "studio apartment on wheels". You have to find that balance and do what works best for you. As always, be safe out there everybody.truckerdave17 Thanks this. -
I'm going to say a prayer for you, geesh.

Well, I'm not religious, but I appreciate the sentiment all the same. It's always nice to see that people care. What exactly promoted this particular prayer? My intent to lease? If so, I'm a business major and am almost done attaining my bachelors in business. I love trucking (and have since I was a little girl), and I intend to get my Hazmat endorsement when I renew my CDL. Additionally, I plan to get certified as what England refers to as a "Phase Two" trainer. I really enjoy teaching and helping others realize their goals and dreams. Do what makes you happy right?

I agree. It is your buisness, and your life. There is an old saying that misery loves company, it has alot of truth to it.
