Oh I know that load and I know who dropped it there. SW regional driver that will probably still be there when you get there. He was waiting for a load home that another driver couldn't pick up until this morning, in Mobile, AL... He was rather angry, but his home time wasn't for another two days. He dropped that load as I was leaving this morning.

Ran out of hours in Haines City. Went into violation as I was on service road that was backed up from a truck hitting a car at this McDonalds. So I'll call safety in the morning since that put me 2 min over. Plus I'm 10 min from rcvr.. I told this dispatcher I couldn't make it. I was expecting to run out ten min sooner than I did. So now they are trying to repower with someone in Lakeland to do the drop/hook at Walmart.

I think when I get there, we're going to have to have a talk about this and phone manners. He might be covering my regular DM board, but there is such a thing as respect and he needs to learn some...

Mine was Russell Overla, VP of Operations. Gave me his direct line and cell phone numbers.

He would be your executive sponsor. He will track what you do your first 30 days to make sure you're getting miles, pay, treated with respect, etc...

Unfortunately that driver left me with a bad tire and malfunctioning ABS. So now I wait for repairs.

I bet he did. He was one of those drivers that had nothing good to say about anyone or anything. His truck interior showed what type of driver he is. It was filthy! He didn't understand why I didn't want to stay near him. Lol.

I emptied load, DM still out. I sit in Haines City while backup is figuring what to do with me. He's not answering the phone so I might be eating and if no response by 1200, I'll roll over to Lakeland.

that's the only thing i hate about dm's.when your regular dm is out and u get a backup dm, you always get screwed around. when i drove for landspan out of lakeland they got a dm name erica. whenever she backed up for a regular dm, drivers would quit cuz she would talk and treat drivers like crap. i didn't believe it until she was my backup dm and i quit..

DMs are in competition between each other to cover loads, keep trucks moving, low turn over, etc. They get bonuses for it so a great way to make up is when covering another board, slow the trucks down, etc. Here is a little bit different, but still the same. They just don't know plans of regular DM or how driver runs, etc. Plus they have their own fleets to worry about and then getting another on top of it makes it tough for them.

I just talked to one of the DMs and told them I'm going to the yard at noon if I don't hear anything. He said he will get backup to call me and if yard is close enough for me to do that if I need to. Breakfast it is while I wait...

They take drivers as needed for the area. Most of our dedicated is GP but they prefer drivers that live in Georgia or the Carolinas. You'll notice alot of red cascadia rentals from Ryder. They run those Cus they are permitted for all states and thru ryder maintenance because they run up to PA

Seniority followed by where you live according to route. With you in Miami, ask about dedicated water run or P & G there. You might get lucky and there be an opening since so few drivers are that far down there.
