I came through there yesterday . They do have about a dozen new bulk sand trailers. Not too much damage. Probably lost a couple dozen of their trash trailers. Too bad a good f=5 didn't come through and stay on the ground instead of this little skipping one they got. Could have taken out Werner and a few other rat outfits. Oh well. We can dream.

Amen brother. Moving to TX is the best decision I ever made. I only wish I had done it three years ago when the economy tanked. I could have avoided a lot of pain and misery that way.

The work is here boys and girls. Come & get it.

Still interested in hearing what anyone knows about them. But I probably just answered my own question.... good thing there's such a thing as the internet. They said they'd hire me. No school, no recent experience, just show up with my CDL and X endorsement. Of course, they will have cleaned that up and paid the fines, right? So why hire a newbie with no experience? Of course, they'll train me to be sure I am aware of the various safety requirements of the job, and insure that I'm properly mentored on safety....right? Especially now! Yep. Maybe. Don't be too desparate to get to work, maybe, yeah?

So.....what kind of idiot would drive down to Texas on limited funds, a tent and a sleeping bag, no recent CDL experience, a newly minted replacement CDL with X endorsement, on an "I'd probably hire ya." phone call and walk into that smallish oilfield services company that has a recent serious set of safety violations, out of desperation to just get his butt to work making money?

Me? I don't know. I just don't know. Maybe. I'm between serious (and probably intelligent) doubt, and going for it hoping for the best. The wife has some serious medical issues, and I'm feelin' like I just can't wait until all the ducks line up the "best" way, just to get started, like going back through a PTDI school before I head out, and wait for a "good" oilfield job. I know I'll work HARD to get where I need to get for my wife and 9 yr old daughter's sake, but maybe this is just a really stupid idea.

There are many roads to ones fortune in this lifetime. Every man must walk his own path, and follow his own journey... Seattle206

My own journey is that I simpily applied online too 6 jobs. 4 North Dakota All Halliburton 1 was for Sanjel in Montana and the last was a wild card too Texas.. Service companies all Cement Departments...

TX called turned in my two week notice too the dead sales field; I had been in for 8 years... Drove down and the rest is history.

One thing I would like too mention; in the Cement Department we move around Tankers or Heavy Equipment. We run jobs and tote around heavy pipes when running jobs. Though you don't all ways do that; you may simply go down too New Mexico and spot a empty cement bin at a site for some other to do the job later.

You get tanker, winch and heavy equipment experience. You can become a cementer and go around the world; and travel and make good money. Don't over look the service industry on your journey it has been a very rewarding one for myself.

What ever you do enjoy the ride :biggrin_25525::biggrin_25514::biggrin_255:

Yes; in fact I hadn't even passed the test when I was hired I was still in school... I got the interview call; while in CDL school. "She was only interested at my start pay when It came to the license" They have an in house trng program she told me... I believe it was the CDL permit which later was confirmed in class by other students. Everyone in class had a permit at least only 3 of us had CDL's... Wait one didn't have it; but he was an Engineer....

PS I don't know about how other companies work; but Halliburton provides all your gear to do the job 100% cost free too you... Boots, coveralls, shirts, and gloves... ect like light to see at night attached too hard hat.

JahB if your gonna turn down a job based on something like what you posted you need to rethink the oilfield thing. You probably won't find one service company that hasn't done something similiar. You don't know what the circumstances were on that particular job. Maybe they just screwed up the paper work. Maybe another company just tested the frack tank and it was costing them 500-1000 dollars an hour o be out there so they skipped a step. The point is, unless the site was known to have h2s present thenthere probably wasn't any danger in getting in that tank. I've been in many.

The main thing was the tentative nature of the "offer", and the financial risk in going down with "just" the CDL and X, with no recent driving, more than the reported safety problem. Limited resources to hang until I find work is the main thing. I posted that report specifically to get some feedback on what that report meant. You gave me that, and it's good to know. I don't have the experience to evalutate what that report means, but someone like you does. Thanks!

I do want to be safe when I work, but WORK is the thing.
