It happens. Always make sure your king pin has not been pulled by some pissed off jerk-wad while you were away. I've learned to always look under the trailer before opening the door out of habit.
-
I'm told that if you set your trailer brakes and pull on the kingpin before setting the tractor brakes, then the 5th wheel cannot be released easily, if at all.
-
That will most likely work, but if you are like me you hardly set your trailer brakes unless I am dropping the trailer which rarely occurs.

Hey, you didn't happen to have a conversation with a Three S Express truck hauling scrap down 76 East the other day did you? I was chatting up a Venezia driver the other day, because I got a job offer hauling dry bulk out of New Middletown, OH.. Was that you? a day cab tanker btw..
-
When I was taking a 10 in Orlando I was parked at the one truck stop on OBT and someone tried my door to see if it was unlocked.
-
It wasn't me, but i do haul out of New Middletown. I have an idea of who you may have talked to though.

In questionable areas, loop the seat belt through the door handle then back into the buckle(?).
Even if they bust a window they can't get the door open immediately. You can dial 911 then start bashing them with your tire checker, of choice.
Mikeeeesgfulton83 Thanks this. -
Don't bother, if you do a proper pre-trip you'll catch something like that...LaBubba Thanks this.

I've heard some people tie a rope(or similar) from their air horn cable to the door handle...That'll draw some attention if they get the door open!!!!!!!
