I would recommend that regardless of what you do,

Basic accounting/bookkeeping/business management program would be a smart move for anybody looking to be an O/O.

BEFORE you do any type of lease/purchase option.

Roknric, dancnoone and Jarhed1964 Thank this.

    I agree with your comments....but

Have you ever tried to convince somebody that is a high school drop out and earns over 4 million a year (pre-tax) they should take some business classes?

It goes in one ear and out the other.

When I first started college I was studying to be a professional pilot... I was pretty good at it too. My instructor said I was a natural pilot. But, dang, it was expensive paying for flight time on top of the overpriced private Uni. tuition. I wasn't like a lot of the kids there. I had no silver spoon in my mouth. I was an Army brat (and too young and distracted. probably would have stayed with it if I were older.) Some of my old friends that I've found on facebook are flying for airlines. One is based in Japan.

I ended up switching majors and campus'. I have one of those useless BA's in Communications/Journalism. The only time I used it was right after college where I worked at a TV station for 3 years... except on the production side. That station taught their PA's pretty much everything (camera, master control, graphics, sound, tape tech, even directing) if they were there long enough. The pay was crap, though. Also, the only way someone can move up is if someone quit, retired or died.

When I moved down to Texas I ended up working customer service for Sprint. OMG I hated that job. It's soul crushing to hear call after call of people (some quite nuts) ######## about their cell service. lol :biggrin_25524::biggrin_2555: I was in the department that got all the letters, too. Most were ok. We'd fix their problem, call and tell them. Then there were the nuts who'd send in pages written in red crayon (hope it was crayon!) cursing Sprint and wishing it's death. Those were fun to have to call. I used to sit there hoping I got an answering machine.

Now I drive a school bus. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the driving part, and, I like driving high school and adults. lol I admit, though, I can live my whole life happy and content to drive and never have to hear or try to contain a bus load of elementary kids. Be quit, sit down so-and-so, what part of sit down don't y'all understand, stop standing the seat, nope no candy today, stop screaming... drive, stop, drive, stop, drive, stop *close the window so so-and-so doesn't try to stick her head out the window again* drive, stop. lol Two years of this has burned me out. Also, it's a job that's very undervalued. People are ALWAYS asking why I'd do this job like it was beneath them and myself to do. I really don't understand that attitude. It's just a job.

Amen to that. I've been working three years in customer service and it absolutely is the worst job known to man. After I'm vested in this retirement program, I'm going to look into OTR again. There were many days and weeks I had a great time OTR. I've never had a good day working in a call center. I'd rather bang my head against a wall than be a CSR anywhere else again after I'm done with this gig. Good Lord, it sucks.

    You mean sister, right? :biggrin_25525:

Worst job known to man..... or somewhere close! :biggrin_2559: My department was next to the collections department at one point. I can see why people hate them so much! I'd sit at my computer trying to work while this one dude, in particular, would stand up and SCREAM at people. It was so bad I felt the collectee's stress for them. I would say that was worse than customer service if so many of them weren't complete psychotic ######## and enjoyed inflicting pain so much.

Let me revisit this. That should be $4 mill gross. He still has to pay employees, contractors and taxes.

But a few classes certainly wouldn't hurt IMHO

If his office staff up and quits. He's gonna be in pain trying to sort it out.
