    Yes, that is my point.

Was I ready to go out on the road on my own after 3 weeks? GOD NO.

I spent the next 5 weeks with my company trainer. Even then when i was cut lose there were some things I needed help with.

Truck driving school programs are not meant to be finish training.....they are entry level training at best.

    Why?

I never condoned taking an entry level student and sticking them with a driver that has only six months of experience themselves.

Just like their are good truck driving schools and bad truck driving schools, there are good carriers and bad carriers.

My trainer had 14 years experience and was a trainer for the last 8 of them.

I guess I just had a good experience.

Thank you for bringing that up....I was going to earlier, and I got sidetracked!!!! That was also one of my points.....a newbie being trained by another newbie:biggrin_2556::biggrin_25521:....dont EVEN get me started...LOL

they do it ALL the time.....and it should be illegal!!!!

I agree with you on that point - I only mentioned it because it could be perceived as a 'disadvantage' on the surface.

I know that if I could have justified the higher cost for the shorter class I would have taken it. Knowing what I know now, I know that I made the correct choice.

Yes, a 3 week class will get you into shape where you can pass the CDL test. But when you actually interview with carriers and do your road test, that 8 week class will certainly move you to the front of the line. When they're looking to cut people because more pre-hires showed up than expected, I'll bet I know who's going to be the first to get a bus ticket home.

Thanks man, I think alot of people here don't appreciate the fact that people need to go to work. Will a harvard degree get me a job faster and better trained then my local community college. Probably so. Do I have the money to pay for it?...not in my lifetime. Maybe not all truckers are harvard trained, just like the doctors you all go to, but if your sick I bet you don't give a rats ##### where he went to.
