I use a sleeping bag as a mattress cover.

I wrap it around the mattress, so it adds about an inch both above and below.

    Great job!

You are " my kind of scum..... Darring and inovative. " :biggrin_25523:
As Jobba the Hut once said. Instead of just working an average job. With no pension plan, or chance to do anything you can talk about.

After about a year, you can easily start in a large factory, since they all are short of people who can drive vehicals, when others go on vacation.
Myself? I might start in a few months, Already have passed my written and applied for a "dangerous goods", background check. I will apply for a "TWIC" card after that.

actually we really love it. i used to team drive with him but that just didnt work for us. now that i do everything but drive its great. i stay home for a month about every 3 months or so. this gives us both some space. it also gives me a chance to get anything done at home that needs my specific attention; like getting the taxes done in february.
about the only comfort of home we dont have is running water. the use of public restrooms isnt always a pretty site. sometimes the showers are a bit cramped, but most truckstops usually only plan for one person per shower. i like to soak in the tub and those are far and few between. but we have learned how to make do in most any situation we have been in.
once in awhile when we are taking a restart we will get a motel room. just something to get out of the truck a bit. sometimes we dont even go home on our hometime. we will just have a weekend where we can see something of the country from other than a truck window.
sometimes you have to be very choosy if you decide to take yourself out for a meal. there are definetely some places we will not eat. pretty much any dennys is on that list. i got food poisoning at a fast food in a truck stop, wont eat there again either. this is one of the major reasons why we do our own cooking.
sometimes its hard to get some movement on a daily basis. by this i mean exercise. i try to get out and do some walking, but it has to be safe. sitting at someones loading dock isnt. i plug headphones into my kindle and dancer is the sleeper while hubby is driving down the road.yes, i know it sounds crazy, but it works. we also dont park in the front row.
everyone has their own style out here, you just have to figure out what works for you.

Do you know that the Little America's have very large bathtubs in all their shower rooms?

    Few and far between, yes.
    But worth looking for.

Yes and i have used them. But now we dont go that far west. As many times as we have been thru ohio i just recently learned that the plazas on the tollway have free showers for drivers. Kinda felt a little.slow.that day ......lol

alright.. to be a complete smartbutt.. there's no way you could live 24/7 in the truck. theres no bathroom and no shower.:biggrin_25522::biggrin_2559: now that i've got being a smart aleck out of the way.

i see no reason why you couldn't stay in the truck with only a place to send mail. if i go into driving thats what i'll do. mail sent to parents house, no apartment or any rent. i see no reason for a storage facility when i could store stuff at my mothers house with no issues. especially if i'm only going to be home for a couple days a month or every other month. it'd probably be the best way to save money because you're not paying for a ton of stuff.

Don't forget to have a permenant address so you claim the per diem from the IRS. If you tell them you live in the truck you can not claim this. All you need to do is go home once a year and then claim 360 days of per diem at $59 x .80 and you can deduct this off of your taxes and this is a chuck of change you don't want to pass up.

A little more than just an address is really required by the IRS. It requires a tax home.
