Newbie to WSE, here I go!!

To be honest I heard a lot of higher ups either quit or got fired. I'm truly suprized they are still in business. I know I got so bad that my old trainer who has been with. WSE for 15 years had quit. And to be honest Atlanta was realty never a terminal it was a dirt lot with a service station. Leaving them was the best move I made in my trucking career I'm with USX XPRESS now and make 2times the mlamount I did with WSE average 2600+ miles a week

 

i followed your story today when you were a newbie with wse.
I'd like to thank you for your posts back then, just wish you hadn't stopped posting.
are you still with wse? or have you moved on?
am curious if you were satisfied with the company.
yours (and the comments that followed) is the only blog i could find on this company.

I am no longer with WSE. I left them after 5 months, I was was averaging at the most 1600-1800 miles, I seen 2100 miles only once. They run the hell out of you while training but frieght is slim picking when you are on your own. trainers mae decent miles and maybe vets with the company. they allways had loads under 600 miles and sat on them for 3 days with no chance of delivering early. Refer units are like that tho. Stevens is a good start company for refers. I am currently with USX. Pay is a lot higher but miles vary , none the less im making double what I made with WSE and I now get anxious after sitting even for a 34hr restart. lol i average about 2800 miles with them .... Mike, if you don't mind me asking. How long do you have to stay out with USX before hometime. I am not someone that has to be home often but the recruiter on the phone told me I would have to be out about 4 weeks at a time. I like the sound of WSE because I don't need to run, run, run to start. And to be honest, if I make more than my last job (barely above minimum wage) I will be happy. Thought about USX but the four week out thing may run me a little ragged. I would like to be in a south east regional job by the end of the year. But I am realistic too. Thanks man. Where ever I go I hope I get a decent trainer as I am very laid back and can drive pretty good so I just need to get through the training where ever I go and I should be fine.

 

im out about 3 weeks and home for about 4-5 days at a time.. you will prob make more than your last job where ever you go, but keep in mind if you figure out hourly pay you will make less .. remember you will be considered to work 70hrs a week and out on the truck at all times so you will make less than minimum wage... my thought is you might as well make it worth it and run as hard as you can as you are out here for 3 weeks wether you make 400 a week or 1000 week ... id rather make the $1k personaly

 

Just went to WSE website and seen pics of there mack trucks! I have to say they are now number 1 on my list of companies im going to try for!

 

they will be number one till u find out about .19 cents per mile on empty miles and u run about 1,000 bounce miles a week

 

I have never gotten 1000 empty miles in a week, I am averaging about 2400 miles a week. I think you may need another fm if you r getting jacked around like that.

 

I'm sorry, but that statement simply is not true! WSE has it's share of problems, Their terminals suck, their maintenance dept sucks, and they have a host of other problems like their tractors. I have spoken about the trailer problems in another post. But 1,000 empty miles a week every week is a downright lie, period! My worse week I had just over 500 empty miles, and that was a trip empty from sparks NV to the Boise Terminal to do a drop/hook, and this was because it was the week after Christmas and WSE had no freight anywhere near me. I might average 150 to 250 miles a week empty. This week I have empty miles from Elm Springs to Joplin Mo, from Pottsville PA to Pittston Pa, and from Herriman NY to the Harrisburg area. My guess is maybe 300 miles empty this week, and this is a bit over my average. A load planner whom allowed a driver to deadhead 1000 miles a week every week would not be employed by WSE very long. The company tracks these miles and won't allow this to happen!

 

I will be going to orientation in atlanta with wse at the end of the month.
