SHC I can be a little slow some days. I do apologize. I realize now that I aimed that at the wrong person. I'm just so sick and tired of stupidity and lowballing. Some of the BS that I put up with over the past few years would push most to throwing in the towel. And I would have If I could afford to but I found a situation in step decking that I cant pass up on and Im praying that its not just another case of smoke and mirrors. Again I am sorry.
any advice for a new step decker?

What I was getting at is those rates are here in flatbed/ stepdeck too. You are running from a bad situation hauling one kind of trailer and thinking you are running into a gold mine. Yes there are runs out here that do alright but tough finding them and it gets cheaper all the time as everyone thinks that flatbedding is going to save them. How about doing some research before you jump ship. SHC did and now hes doing good. I am wondering what you are getting for what you are calling a good rate running a stepdeck? It could very possibly be what we call CHEAP! There are some dirt cheap rates coming out of Cali and you want more than 2 bucks a mile going in. You are frustrated as you didnt do any research and now you and your kind will be the reason the rates go down even cheaper out of there.DEMO Thanks this.

Careful, you might push him over the edge

Be careful, most times the smoke clears & you're left looking at yourself in the mirror wondering where you went wrong..

I do not know where you are getting the idea all flat bed pullers are running cheap freight, I can get up 3.00-7.00 per mile and the broker can find round trips with maybe 24 hours waiting.
2.50 per mile can get you out of a hole but all flatbed loads are not dirt cheap, run off the load boards and jump around and you will find that low balling pay rate.
First class service and equipment with a good reputation will get you ahead, not spreading rumors.chrisbecker Thanks this. -
Demo I deserved that one. I spent all of yesterday wiring my pos volvo for the lift axle, flashers and a work light. and if you ever worked on one of those you would understand. Yes I am leaving a bad situation but I did my research and I gave the company 2 months to prove themselves or I walk away and go back to my hopper. He is guaranteed me $2 plus per mile gross all miles put on the odometer no exceptions. I do realize that there are bad rates in stepdeck too but I refuse to haul them. You tell me is that a cheap rate? Im on here to better understand what Im getting into from experienced drivers so I dont make those stupid mistakes.

No worries, SHC and most here have a good sense of humor, in time you'll learn that.
For all miles, from odometer, is not a bad start IMO. I would never fault anyone for trying to do better.SHC and Mommas_money_maker Thank this. -
I used to pull a hopper and went to a step deck a year ago, Do you have your own authority?
