:biggrin_2558:Why don't more people run Super Singles? The idea seems to make sense to me. We have some day cabs with them!

Because they don't fit every application is one reason. Probably a hundred or more other reasons why not..

There are some issues that others may agree with that I personally dont like. I run a 53 stepdeck and I dont like the bounciness and the extra side sway they give. Plus if you have a blowout, you cant limp down the road (im an O/O) so have have to pay extra for the tire truck to meet you. I also dont like the idea of taking them into the places I go (ie. construction sites, lots of dirt lots at shippers, cons) as they will pick up all kinds of crap and cost me lots of money that way.

X2. We have them on two tractors and two trailers (daycabs pulling grain hoppers) where the lighter empty weight actually matters. However I will not put them on anything else. They're also pretty expensive, I just priced 4 new Michelin XTE 445/50R22.5's on a national account and they were $1040.00 each.

IMO If your not going to benefit from the lighter weight then they're not worth using.

Me personally, I don't like the fact if one blows, you're dead in the water, plus the track width is not as wide as duals.

As stated , they have their place.
We use them on about half our trailers that were designed for them with wider axles.
They are all lift axles so if we have a flat we simply lift the flat till we get to a safe area.
We like them for the lower drag and weight.

On their website, it appears that it's a re-cap. It's from their Bridgestone-Bandag division, (Bandag is recaps)

Super singles is an incorrect term. The correct name is wide singles. O and by the way, limping down the road with a flat tire or even an under inflated tire can earn you some CSA points and a nice monetary fine.

In my area Exxon Mobil had them on the trucks and said they were no good in the snow.. I also don't like the fact that they can blow out and you wouldn't be able to move the truck..
Why fix something that isn't broken?
    Just my opinion.
