You have done your math correctly. I am under the same impression as you. I have been an o/o for a while and their will be good weeks and bad weeks no matter how hard you run. When you have bad ones dont expect to make any wages for your self because their wont be any revenue left. Drive for someone else until you can find a good company to lease to with your own truck.

    MNdriver Thanks this.

You forgot to add you get paid every week for what you have turned in, even if the customer never pays. No collecting.

Ok, I see where you're coming from on that. Actually direct freight is something I never do. I've done one direct load this year, that I really hadn't planned to dobut it helped Bill out of a bad predicament, and turned down an offer to do another one here in a couple of weeks. It pays $1800 gross (my percentage is less than that, I usually avg anywhere from $2.15 to $2.40 depending on deadhead doing it) on 600 miles, actually about 35 miles less than that the way I run it, so it's not that it's a bad load or anything. I just do as well or better on what I've found and don't sleep in the truck most nights. I'm not getting hammered at all on any of this co-brokered spot I've been hauling for this one broker the last few weeks. I name top dollar rates, what I would think of as good, even great rates for a flatbed, with my empty miles included and they never flinch.. Working it for all it's worth..

That's what I am doing and saving money[/QUOTE] remember we have tons of intermodal here in minnesota, you can make decent money as a o/o and be home every day. I just dont think being on my own authority is worth the extra money/headaches IMO.

Factoid - a small but non-trivial fact and before you ask non-trivial is science-speak for "it actually matters"

Sahib ? -- "my friend" or any casual / generally friendly reference to whom one has been or is speaking
