If your FSC is 6mpg than going 62mph is going to net you a better mpg so technically your making money with fsc. But then again if you drive otr you might use all your hours every week.

Are you gonna give them a rebate when you go through a 55 mph state?

It is not theft. See they tell you up front what the truck will run. Then you decide if you want the job. Speed limits are between you and the state not your employer.

The only partial argument you could have is if they turn you down further than you started (70 to 65)but even then the choice is yours.

Going 62 is a good balance of economy and speed, but my truck seems to like it at 58(unless I'm in Saint Louis for some reason).

So I agree that going faster only means a slightly higher daily mileage, but overall productivity is about the same for fast or slow. But 62 is safer and more economical.

I drive 56-59 wherever the cruse happens to be set at. Its just a lot simpler letting traffic pass you.

A reasonable expectation is that you get paid for your work. If you are hired by a company and they agree to pay you by the mile, it's deceitful and unethical for them to pay you for 90-95% of the miles. It's that simple.

Aiwiron, looks like you were talking about truck speed. My mistake. I agree with you.

1 MPH equals 1 weeks work at the end of the year.

What's that worth to you? So if you are going 8 under the speed limit, that's 8 weeks worth of work.

I would love to see the dquation for that hypothesis.

Let's see unless your delivering on the interstate you will travel roads below your governed speed, you would never see any construction or congestion, you would have to always drive your full 11 hour shift against your governor in an area allowing more.

Boy can't wait to see the equation accounting for all of that.

    5 mph (62 mph vs 67 mph) X 10 hours per day = 50 miles.

50 miles per day X 5 days per week is 250 miles.

250 miles per week X 50 weeks per year is 12,500 miles.

    12,500 miles / 54 mph average (for 62mph speed) = ~231 hours driving.

    ~231 hours driving / 50 hours per 5 day week = ~4.6 weeks.

What are those 4 1/2+ weeks worth to you?

    8X10 = 80
    80*5 = 400
    400*50 = 20,000
    20,000/54 = ~370
    ~370/50 = ~7.4 weeks....

Now you are talking close to two MONTHS of productivity
