Nobody can edit the drive line. I can edit and so can our office On duty, off duty, and sleeper but drive line is untouchable. In addition all edits are identified if you pull the individuals report as to whom edited it. So if some idjit in a company decided to buy a driver a half hour his ID is recorded which will end any plausible deniability a company enjoys for those actions now.
Now that being said people can still play games like unplugging it, just logging out and driving anyway, but the difference is all of that is recorded and not eliminated with an eraser, or another piece of paper. It will simplify checking compliance nothing more or less. Or to put it simply it makes it harder to lie.
HOS what's the point?

I have never used them. I don't know what they changed. I would expect that you would need to be able to make changes in case the driver made an error.

Of course the logs can be edited, it would be an awful system if you couldn't.
The drive line can be edited and there are actually appropriate times to edit driving. It doesn't happen often, but it does need to be done from time to time. -
Not ours. The people they sent from Qcom even warned that this is the case. If the truck is tracking movement it will go onto drive and there is no chamging it. On our panels in the truck edit goes dark when your approving logs and click on a drive line. Susan in our office (log lady) told us she has no way to edit drive line. Maybe Qcom would but they stated it wouldn't happen.
Well I take that back.If you truck shows unassigned drive time and it is not in the shop she will assign it to you(after a phone call to check on the shop question)) but that is not really editing just taking away the cheat of logging out and then driving.
Pnet may be different but ours according to what we the drivers have been told can not be touched. Of course there are only two people in the company allowed to be in the log system besides drivers. Susan and Stephen her boss. Kelvin the safety guy feels two many fingers in the pie will cause problems. -
If elogs can be edited, then I see no difference between elogs and paper other than the cost. That being the case, I will save my money and continue to use paper.
Stump Thanks this. -
A system that cannot be editted is a flawed system.

Meltom, some people would say a system that needs edited is flawed. Which is part of why so many people are resisting eLogs. It isn't just a privacy issue. If they can't be edited they are flawed, and if they need edited they are flawed. No way to win with, and nothing to gain from eLogs.

I'm willing to bet there IS a way to edit the drive line... your office "idjit's" just fail to understand how.
If it couldn't happen, what would happen inthe case of the truck being moved/towed from a breakdown situation. Obviously the GPS would show a move... Heck, out west it could be 100+ miles. There MUST be a way to edit the drive line for situations like this... -
Not EVERY...We are not a large carrier and we can't afford the liability exposure or afford the fines, out of service hours or the expense of constant repairs of , heaven forbid replacement of trucks. We don't lump all drivers in one category, don't lump all O/Os in one category.

1) What does being tired, have to do with the shape your in? Out perform me? Whom? You? Your the one that champions HOS regs and wants nothing to change therefore, you will not have to work ANY harder... Obviously, your the one with questionable performance issues.
2) Why would I push harder? I know my limits and when too fatigued, I sleep period... Why is this so hard for you to grasp? There are plenty of others out there that can and do the same. I would say ALL real truck drivers... perhaps you are not one.
3) Where did I ever claim HOS regs cause more accidents? I assume your refering to accident fatality data from the 1990's to the 2000's... Which there WAS a decrease in accident fatalities... However, if you look at the data presented... The conclusions are drawn that the reason for the decrease IS equipment related... Freaken, NOTHING to do with HOS regs... Again, reread the data. Your premise on what it says is WRONG and always has been wrong.
Lastly, my claim is that if HOS regs were removed tomarrow... We wouldn't see any bloody highways, the world wouldn't end, nor would all cats and dogs start getting along.
