I dont understand that though. I could care less about home time... i just need a job right now! I dont have any family here.. all my family is in NC, VA, MD, and a few in MI. Besides.. if i go to training in Dallas, and i get put on a truck in dallas.. then why would living in florida be an issue???

Because they will not hire you unless they can get you home for hometime. This is NOT just Stevens but most any other company. Now if you REALLY dont care about hometime and have family elsewhere. You could list their address as you home of record.
I do understand your problem, and I wish it were not this way. But it is what it is. Finding a company that will hire recent grads out of Fl is very hard. Its the same way if you live east of I95 up the east coast. I used to live in Greenville, NC and it limited my possibilities alot. -
All of our trucks are rotated out usually by 450000 miles.Or about when the warranty runs out.He would have gotten a newer truck when his grad probation was over. Its just the luck of the draw. You take the truck they give you.Say thank you for the opportunity and earn a better truck.I have students that get off my truck and get a nicer truck than mine. And I have some that get an older one.Even at that mileage its still a good truck.APU,Inverter etc.etc.Mine I never had a problem with. Then I got a better truck, then a better truck, then a brand new truck. Now with my seniority I can go in to Cat and ask for a new truck when they have them and they are going to give it to me.Ive earned that.Dieselten77 and TRKRSHONEY Thank this.

I thought about that.. I could use my Dads address in NC, but I dont have a NC license, and if they want to greyhound me to dallas, how do I explain being in florida?
Im really starting to get discouraged. -
would you be willing to move to Tx.?
-
and whatever address you claim as home, is also the state your CDL must be from.
Florida is always an issue. Too many people looking to OTR trucking to solve their lack of jobs in the area problem.
And with the overwhelming number of applications per day that Stevens receive, due to the continuing recession, the rejection rate is large, many rejected due to where they live. -
Yeah, I wouldnt mind that at all, but Im unemployed right now, until I have a job and money coming in, I can't really "move" anywhere. -
Just work for a carrier that has a terminal in florida,
what is the big deal.
Everybody wants to work at a company 1000+ miles away,
that's just plain crazy........... -
What else is crazy, is the amount of crying and moaning going on. "I don't want to earn money in an 07, I want a new one" lol!! Dear infant baby Jesus!
TRKRSHONEY and Dieselten77 Thank this. -
The reason I wanna work for Stevens is because they will put me thru my CDL training with no out of pocket money AND give me a job. I dont have the credit or the money sitting around to pay for my own CDL training. If you can point me out a carrier that has a terminal in florida that pays for my CDL training then sure.. I'll take a look at them.
