I've been working for western for 2 and a half years, and most of what I have read so for are disgrutled drivers or here say. Like with every company there are pro's and con's. What you have to decide is what works for you. Our founder and owner died suddenly of a massive heart attack last year and so we have had some leadership changes. Old policys have been reviewed and improved upon. Driver managers have improved and the fleet as a whole as improved. We are a good company to work for and I would recommend Western Express to any driver who is serious about his or hers carrier in the trucking industry![]()

Do not bother going to Western Express They disrespect you and never let you go home. They are suppose to give you 2500 miles a week but rarely deliver on that
-
I am working for western too and the DMs lie to you and never let you go home
-
Um, no. My dm is a great guy the one time I've requested home time so far was for a specific appointment and he got me home for that when I asked him too. I have another appointment coming up and he's already scheduled my home time so he wont forget.
I will give you not always averaging 2500 miles a week. So? I doubt you'll find a company that you get guaranteed 2500+ miles a week every week 52 weeks a year...sometimes its just the way the loads fall and sometimes there just aren't long runs available from wherever you happen to be.
I swear some people will complain just for the sake of complaining... -

i have been with western solo since the end of December. Since I went solo I haven't had any problems getting home time when I ask for it, if you ask at least aweek in advance you should not have any problem getting home. I am on my second DM here. I switched terminals. I went from Nashville to the Nazareth terminal. Both DM's are both good. January was the only month I was not running that much because freight was slow. When I was in training they did not charge the $200 training fee.
If you run hard and don't decline loads you know you can run you will make money here. As for having you run over weight or illegal, if your DM wants you to do it call safety they will handle it. They will not fire you for not running illegal.

I have worked they door western Express for 9 months out of Nashville and they do not care about their drivers they charge them for out of route miles over 75 and pay you for less than routed miles. And as of the 12th of April heir they were downgraded from stable to weak in Standards and Poor due to their inability to keep drivers and the pay and how they are running this business. This company is scary and is in trouble and no they have not filed bankruptcy but people are fearful they will not be able to make their payment on just the interest
-
yes the pay isn't that great. have you tried switching to the nazareth terminal. i am bringing home more from there and they try to get you home most weekends. mr.blades i grew up in adelphi.

I am thinking of changing to Decatur if I stay. I am from the DC and NH. But Western Express does not care about their drivers. They only care about the office people. And I would be fine with not making 2500 a week but have average only 1600 a week for 10 months

I would go to the Nazareth terminal. I am averaging more money and about the same miles since switching terminals. they will give you long runs from there and treat you pretty good out of here. When I was out of Nashville THE TRUCK I had needed to go to the body shop they would not route me there. I had electrical issues with the truck while under a load and made it up to Nazareth, got home time went in asked if they had a truck and got one in better shape and I am glad I switched. Shawn the terminal manager told me they were going to be be getting 40 trucks and drivers from Nashville ans 40 from Decatur. Next time your through there you should ask about it.
All they ask is to do your best and run, but they won't let run illegal. I agree about the fuel, routing and pay. just be glad you are not going through training now where they are taking $200 week for training pay. -
I am looking at Shaffer they pay better and run you Western is not a good company looking out for their office staff and not giving a dam about their drivers false loads making you sit and penalizing you for their mistakes not a good company very hostile
