I passed! What a relief! Today went very well. Only thing left is graduation tomorrow. So happy! For my skills test I had to do a straight line back, offset left back and a conventional parallel park. Finally done. Now who do I go with? Roehl is out. Definitely not hiring south of I-4. So now I have some choices. Will not be making a snap decision. Still have the pre-hire for Werner, but Conway said ok too. I've applied with Comcar but haven't heard anything. I'll have to give them a call. Will keep everyone posted....

Congrats! Do you have the Florida CDL yet or do you still have to get that?
-
you get a piece of paper to take to dmv saying you passed.
-
That's what I meant. I wasn't sure if the school actually did the state road test or if you still had to do that.
Looking at Colorado (where I am) the state doesn't actually perform any CDL road testing, I guess the schools do that here.
Rick -
Yeah the school does the road and skills test. They give you a voucher. You give that voucher to the DMV and your done. They give you your new license and you walk out the door. No tests or anything to take at the DMV. I was happy about that.

Monday I'll go to the DMV to get the license. Going to take the Hazmat test too.
DrtyDiesel and Rick_C Thank this. -
Yeah ill be at the school on the 21st for the open house. I'm gonna try to get one of those hazmat study guides they gave us when i was there but lost it lol.
I wanna get my hazmat and tanker for future plans.

I decided against NTI. It was nothing against the school but those recruiters really pissed me off. Asked them about Hazmat, tanker, all that and the lady didn't know?!?!!! She stumbled through alot of my questions.. which just didn't sell me on it. Plus the price was pretty heavy. Glad you got good training though!DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

Yeah definitely worth it in my opinion.
What did you ask about hazmat and tanker? They do give you a study guide for the main parts you'll be tested on in Florida.
They mainly focus on the cdl.
I think their training is top notch like roehls school. They teach you a lot more than most think. It is pricey, I paid half then they financed the other half.
I'm going Saturday just to talk with people about the school and about roehl. I'm not a recruiter by any means, just answer some questions anyone might have. I know in school I would have preferred a company driver come and talk with us rather than a recruiter ya know

Honestly I can't remember off the top of my head. I know it was some pretty simple questions. As for the cost, I paid $2,500 for the school I went to. NTI just couldn't fit my budget because I didn't want to come out owing just incase I ran into a snag with employment. (FCCT) I got great training as well, all hands on. No online courses. That's what I wanted overall anyways. (Not trying to boost)
I aswell have visited my school multiple times to talk to my friend (instructor) and the class whenever they are out on the yard. I agree with you 100% I feel like a company drivers perspective is the best thing to get when trying to figure out what it's like and how each company varies in every way. I do talk about Roehl, now I don't try and sell them to join on just because of the things I say but I tell them the good and bad.
As for NTI, when I was in orientation we had a husband and wife team from that school. Husband made it, wife didn't. She had a hard time grasping shifting in general. Her husband didn't really help because he was very outspoken (idk what word to use.. for him). He was a nice guy none the less and treated her well, he just keep telling her the same thing over and over, just wasn't clicking.
He told me had didn't get good training from NTI. None of what I am saying is to bash NTI because I've heard good things about them to and I know some drivers who came from them so I know they put good training out there.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
