In the last 12-months , company driver pay for experienced drivers has increased over $.05/mile in small and medium companies. That is over 10%. That tells you how hard it is to find drivers. It is cheaper to increase pay than replace.
Without details about type of driving it is hard to nail down ideas.
Also, there are good insurers that ask for 2-years but don't verify. All they can tell when they pull an MVR is that the driver has CDL. May open up talent pool a bit to allow you to see if someone with less experience would fit. -
LOL wrong no where.

Having the same problem here too .....our insurance has the same thing 2 yr exp. Unless they are fresh out trucking school ..

My friends insurance requires two years as well but has to be current, some company polices are just two years total.
I know that some rules or policies are becoming so strict that even schools are not good enough anymore.
So, is your two years current or total driving OTR? -
Mine requires 3 years verifiable OTR experience and at least 6 months year current. They are all different the guy across the street from me told me his insurance company requires 5 years experience and no more than 1 termination during the five years and no more that 8 different places of employment. His rates are a lot lower than mine but he has real trouble finding drivers. -
What can you offer new drivers that a large established company cannot? Maybe a smiley face and nice voice on the phone? I'm thinking that drivers that have poor histories will try for smaller fleets, and there lies the potential for problems. Is there a way to get around this?
