Listen, I am not bashing you or anyone that is trying to get a piece of the American dream. I've been around this industry most of my adult life and have seen so many new drivers come and go. If being a L/O is your deal I only hope for success in what you are doing. My thing is with these companies that push leasing onto a new driver long before that driver has been able to find out what this racket is all about. It's hard enough learning a new career let alone trying to be a business owner at the same time. I fault these companies. I just don't see how a new driver can make it today as a L/O. I wish you the best, and believe me, I would not mind one bit if you became a successful L/O and told me "I told you so".

I agree with this 100%. If one has at LEAST a year experience, maybe look at a lease/purchase plan then, but the fact that companies are approaching someone with 3 months solo experience about a lease to me is suspect at best.JohnBoy Thanks this.

Save your money and buy a truckers map + google maps app. on your phone.
I route with my map and then use google maps to plan local directions while matching that to truckers map, then all said and done I use street view to check out where I'm going and what I'm getting in to.silenteagle and Jackofalltrades1977 Thank this. -
Not trying to Hijack this thread, but at Prime INC they will not pressure you to go lease. They won't even ask. If you don't say "I want to lease" they will automatically schedule you to upgrade into a company truck and take the company classes. If any Prime employee tries to pressure a newbie into a lease, they are summarily dismissed by the owner, Robert Low. That is his policy, and he don't play that.

All Prime INC trucks are bought and paid for in full, so if you do lease, you don't have to worry about the company having it financed in a large purchase loan or somethng that could screw you. If you lease purchase a 12' Cascadia, your total at the end is $130k with $1 balloon. They custom order for you, so you can get the bells and whistles that you want. Takes about 3 months for delivery. -
######. That home time week put me in the hole by $700. It's a shame because for this current pay period going into next week, I was looking at raking in around $1100(rough estimate). I ran stupid hard.
Let's hope I can get a repeat performance for the next couple weeks.silenteagle Thanks this. -
