Mommas_money_maker and SHC Thank this. -
I guess ya have a new f/b & want a s/d?
If it's a new trailer ya have , are ya making payments on it?
If so,,,trade it at a dealer on what you want.
JMHO, don't know why youd want a s/d over a f/b anyway unless you have a specific need for a s/d.
48X102 s/a,a/r would be my choice for a f/b. Steel preferably as aluminum is almost impossible to repair when it does crack,,,and it will!
I can axle 48,500 lbs on mine, so the weight differance between steel & aluminum doesn't make much differance to me.
If you can pay cash or have your own financing then ATS, & others sell their used trailers but won't want yours.
I paid $7,000.00 cash for my 2000 mod. G/Dane trailer from Xtra-Lease and it only had 28,000 miles on it. (Factory installed hub-meter & still has red paint on the deck from the factory)
Hope this helps ya!Last edited: Apr 12, 2012
rollin coal and FREEBRD Thank this. -
rates are bad for flats! cant get landstar too come off any money! two bucks, two bucks, two bucks!lol
thought i might do better with a step.... -
You're in the wrong areas and calling the wrong agents.
SHC Thanks this. -
Exactly!
Most steps haul more flatbed freight than anything else!
Because theres more flatbed ONLY freight available, that leaves the stepdeck at a disadvantage. Even with load-levelers, alot of times the shipper just won't load a step.
The ONLY time a s/d is better is with Hi-cube freight, or HIGH (over 102" off the deck) freight.
I can load my flatbed almost any time, outa almost anywhere, for a good rate.
Used steps typically cost 30-50% more than a comperable flatbed, tires off the truck won't fit on the step, etc.
There are alot of reasons to not use a step unless like I said, you have a specific need for it that's gonna get you better rates at least 30-40% of the time, & unless you are 1 in 10,000,,,that just ain't gonna happen.
Since I've owned several trailers both steps & flats, I can assure you that the flatbed makes me more money in the long-run hands down.
