WHAT IS ADV HP RATING? I'VE BEEN LOOKING TO BUY ANOTHER TRUCK AND ALMOST EVERYONE ADVERTISES THE ADV HP. EXAMPLE, I LOOKED AT A 515HP FREIGHTLINER (DETRIOT 14L) ON THE ENGINE STICKER IT SAID 470HP ADV HP 515HP. ON THE DOOR STICKER IT SAID 470HP. ANYWAY, HOPE SOMEONE CAN TELL ME WHAT ADV HP MEANS, BECAUSE I'M GETTING TIRED OF DEALERS SELLING ME ON HIGHER HPs IF IT ISN'T TRUE. THANKS..........
ADV HP??

The ECM calibratiom got 4-5 different cal ratings, the optimal is choosen by truck manufacter, but w/o engine recalibrarion other ratings may be used, Rating 0 is usually most powerful

All you need to do is ask for the ECM history, it will tell you all the codes the engine has ever had, the hard breaking incidents, over-speeds. That is what Detroit asks for on every warranty claim. It is a multiple page printout it even tells you the number of revolutions the engine has ever done. If the ECM has not been changed and the data transfered.
It has the HP and torque rating of the motor, as it is programed, and if and when it was changed, and from what. -
I'll ask my sales guy on Monday. I think in that case, that particular model can be purchased up to 515hp, but that actual engine is only a 470hp.
