You pretty much answered your own question. If you've been driving for 24 years I would hope that you'd have moved on to a better paying job. If you're new you make squat...30 cpm if lucky. At that rate you don't have a choice but to run all the miles you can unless you want to be broke all the time.

For the record though I think 3000 miles in one week is a lot, and probably not even realistic with most companies unless you have some special dedicated drop/hook deal you can run the hell out of. But I like the idea of less work for more money myself too. You just have to be good at what you do.

If he's making top pay at UPS then one would assume he's high up on the seniority list to where miles aren't a problem.

Sometimes the fact of the matter is, you have to work more to make more. No matter if you make .25 or .60 cpm, hourly, paid by the load, etc. For some it's all about chasing the $$. It's all relative.

I think most drivers would love to have a 3000 mile week. Lets face it, we're all about the $$.
In todays economy I would take all the miles they wanted to throw at me. I like driving and as one driver stated....3000 miles....piece of cake.:biggrin_25525:

No kidding. If I were paid on mileage, I don't care if I made .30 or .80 cpm, I'd still want more miles because it still equals more money.

You are correct. You few guys have learned the secret to making a good income. Most do not. Driving 3000 miles is not much if your are makeing 1.56 a mile. If you are making less than .50 cents you need too look around. My yearly average on all miles is 1.47. Per mile. It took several years to find job and a lot of training. My hat is of to u fellow drivers that have found great employers. Well done!!!!
