FL Frenchie...
Flexibility - in all aspects; pay, home time, lanes....etc etc etc.
Maybe the option of not having to use spyware in your truck.
I love the good old pen and paper.

All company trucks will be governed at 62 MPH with a "Driver Reward " incentive of 2 MPH extra.
I just read that on some other O/O page and spit my coffee up.
Thats the type of crap you dont have to deal with driving for a small fleet operator. I'm sure there are advantages to the MEGA carriers for some, I'm not sure what they would be however; maybe a better benefits package.
Personally, trucking is about freedom, that is what got me interested in this business in the first place(and driving farm tractors since I could walk). For me, with my own authority, I do what I want, how I want, when I want. Its more work, and in some cases less money than a company driver but its the freedom that makes it worth it to me.Last edited: Apr 13, 2012

I used to work for a smaller, well established, family owned company that was self insured (bonded).
They could do whatever they wanted to. -
Jopper. I posted something on that thread about fuel savings Vs more profit for running faster.
Put in your ad that your trucks will go as fast as the driver wants to go. If he has a clean driving record then you know he isnt a leadfoot. You make more money because your truck is delivering more freight, he earns more because he gets more miles... -
2yrs exp. is what my insurance requires and I think they told me recent exp. I know we are a small 4 truck company but we don't govern our trucks. we pay for the drivers health insurance provided they are eligible, we have a matching retirement plan that is yours that you can take with you if you leave, good home time. We run the Midwest no NY and I try to stay out of Chicago if at all possible. I have never found a load that paid enough to over come the toll roads and the hassle lol.
