After a bit over a year, I am comfortable.
With the exception of backing. I still am lousy at backing.

I would suggest starting early and shutting down early in the day so you can get an easy parking space for a while.

Most tank carriers don't allow pets.

Thank you everyone for helping me get an idea of how to handle this. I do plan on stopping early, as I am not wanting to challenge my still new backing skills. I am going to remain flexible and just go with the flow. I wonder what sleeping in the truck will be like, and if I'll ever get a full nights sleep again.

Going into this with a good attitude, and a lot of patience. Hope my dispatcher has the same frame of mind. :)

At least I have a good head on my shoulders and a dose of common sense. It's going to be interesting to say the least!

    Thank you!

When in a backing bind, don't be too proud to ask another driver to watch your blind side. Often, after taking two or three resets, that blind side driver (if he is awake and sees that) will come out and help. So you don't ding his truck! hehehehee

I gave myself the nickname "shallow mike" since I am always tight on the driver's side, to leave as much room as possible on the blind side. I had the driver next to me on the driver side come out and watch. I waved thanks, even though I did not need it since I can see the driver's side.

But he must have had little to no confidence in my backing (this was late night, well after dark and early weeks of my first being alone) since I was so close to his very shiny yellow and chrome rig and about 6 feet away from the rust bucket on my passenger side!!!! Hahahahaha

That depends on you. I caught on pretty quickly. I have a co-driver now who gets none of it and he's been holding a steering wheel for about a year and a half.
