Frustrating Idle Cutoff

Well, I guess I got a little spoiled with my T2000's lack of an idle cutoff. My brand new 2012 Cascadia, however, has a 5 minute idle cutoff that's driving me bonkers!

I've tried both methods I've used in the past: setting the cruise and/or leaving the yellow brake in. Neither work, separate or together.

The only thing that works is to sit at the wheel for 4.5 minutes and wait for the light on the dash to come on. When it does, hitting the accelerator allows me to continue idling.

This isn't going to be "okay" come summer. There are times where I or my student have to step away from the truck for more than 5 minutes while the other is sleeping and can't wait around 4.5 minutes for the light to come on. In any temperature over 80F, the interior of the truck will quickly rise to unhealthy temperatures, causing whomever was sleeping to wake up and have to start the truck. This isn't conducive to restful sleep, which is already hard enough when you're bouncing down the road or worrying about an accident (in my case when a student is at the wheel).

So, now that my rant is over, has anyone found the way to stop the idle cutoff in the new Cascadia other than waiting the 4.5 minutes? For what it's worth, I'm essentially a team and hardly ever idle, but on the occasion that I need to, well, I need to!

P.S. I'm looking for built-in ways. That is, a way to bypass it in such a way that it was intended to be able to be bypassed. I'm not looking for pulling/cutting wires or whatnot, or anything that would be frowned upon. If there isn't any legit way of doing this, I'll just have to start pleading with safety and the shop about this issue.

 

Like I said, I've tried cruise and leaving the tractor brakes pushed in. Neither work. Waiting to see the light come on (4.5 minutes after setting brakes) is not an option. Any other suggestions?

 

Any idea as to the reason it was disabled?
