I run with England too, and I'm planning on leasing soon. I have no complaints, but you have to realize that your happiness with any company is based upon lots of different things. What one former driver tells you, may or may not be accurate based upon details that get conveniently left out. Maybe they failed an attempt at leasing because they have no head for business. Do you really think they'll admit to it? Really? Most truckers are WAY too proud for all the wrong reasons, and it causes more problems than anything else I've seen.

    C. R. England is a major carrier, so what does this mean for you? It means that they are not the best paying company out there, but they are competative with other major carriers. They do have a good safety record, all things considered. They do have lots of turn over, because drivers want more money for less work. Some call this greed and sloth, others call it working smarter not harder.

Yes, you will do better if you run more and take less home time. Yes, you will actually have to work to get ahead here. Yes, there are drivers who are very happy with the company and have run successful leases. You have to be responsible and budget, and plan. You CAN make it work. It's NOT easy. This is a career, not a get rich quick scheme. Lots of companies have employees who have been with them for years. Guess what, England is one of them. I love my company, and it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with me. It's a personal opinion, everybody has one. Though I am sure that the people who got fired for legitimate reasons will be happy to talk a line of.... Well, you know.

Thanks for the info guys but lets forget about the whole leasing thing cause im not
interested. Im just talking about being a company driver. Is there no such thing at england?
I didnt make much more than 350 a week at werner but i loved my job. I loved being away from home, loved to drive, i loved sleeping in a different city every night. It was like an adventure for me more than it was a job.

I have hacked it out with England and my tractor has been paid off for about 9 months. I recently have become a phase 1 trainer again and the paychecks are pretty nice. Since I don't have a lease/truck payment and variable mileage I am not stressing on the miles so much.

I have two previous students from 2-3 years ago who are still with CRE. They are both company drivers and are doing well. Both of them are in dedicated fleets, intermodal and green line.

If you go company you have to be flexible. Mainly don't say right away, when you are going through upgrade, that you don't want to lease. Just say your unsure and will see after your phase 2 time. After that when you are upgrading after phase 2 tell them you want to go company.

Say its okay for you to go company team until a solo truck becomes open. A lot of time when you go company team that other driver is looking for a local dedicated route and once he/she goes over to that you take over that company truck as a solo.

If you do decide to lease a truck you have to train! There is no way around that unless you never want to be home and always stressing about the miles week to week.
