Abf or ups freight

i would say to look into ur heart and make the call
this is something u need to choose, the details of each one will determine that for urself

look at whats in store for u in the long run at both, say, how much will u make in 5 years? 10 years? how far up the ladder will you go? what doors will open for you then? are u willing to stick it out to open those doors?

 

I would go upsf, your going to put up with bs for a long time but someone is bound to die, and that's the better company.

Youngest driver is in their 50's, it's just a matter of time.

 

Paige, you are choosing between 2 very good companies. I have been with UPS Freight/Overnite Transportation for 20 years. Our pay and benefits are some of the best on the road. They say we are the highest paid LTL in the country. We will be over 66cpm next year, and $26.15/hr. I also don't pay a dime for my insurance.

ABF is close behind, though.

ABF has a stronger contract, UPS Freight pays more and has about the same benefits. Either way, you should be in good shape.

 

Like mentioned, both good companies. You have to find the one thing about either that makes you want to go with either, whether it be benefits, pay or whatever.

 

You said the ABF is casual. This means you will live and sleep by the phone. You my have big plans for the evening, and just as you leave the house, you get the call. If that is OK with you, they would work.

The UPSF you say is a dock worker who occasionally drives. You would possibly be doing breakdowns, then local p&d, then load out trailers for the drivers. This job would probably have more consistent days and hours.

Both would eventually lead to more of a schedule the longer you are there. So I guess it would be up to which scenario you could tolerate for maybe up to a year or three until you move up.

 

it really depends if it is the union side of ups freight or the non-union truckload div.
