That rate that I posted there is off by a bit now how much of a bit is
anyones guess. And whether it is off plus or minus is still anyone guess.

The reason being is people seeing a rate just like you did and saying
you could cut it and still make tons of money is why rates are like they
are today. Even if you were to go and try and cut our rate the
customer would still be calling us.

    RAG Thanks this.

I only threw out a dollar figure as a ball park of what I thought a fair rate for his original question was, when I thought that he was looking for advice on how much to charge for this kind of move, based on his original 734 mile run and 54klbs gross. I only quoted your post because he said no one gave him any advice. I'm sure saying that I could do it for less threw up a red flag, I was just saying that he needed to know his operating costs and be able to know how profitable the load would be for him. To be clear, I was saying I could be profitable at less than the rate I gave, not that I would do your run for less than you made. I wasn't saying I would cut your rate, I was saying my operating costs are low, and he needs to know his.

Guys...no need to argue over rates LOL.

I just needed some figures to work with. And I appreciate your responses, public and private. The owner of these units will decide how best to handle the situation. I'm just the messenger.

I will ease both your pains...he is not CH Robinson. He pays a fair wage for a days work. Much better than 95% of these clowns out here now.

He would never look at someone like JB or Swift, for these moves. He wants his #### there in one piece, and on time. And he's willing to pay for it.

I know exactly what he paid for his last move. But, like you guys...it's a number. And I won't divulge that number without his permission.

Interesting thread... a couple of weeks ago there was a "power only" load from STL to OMH. They paid like $75 up front and the truck was to receive a % of the load sold! I wish I copied it... it seemed like a real Gypsy Load! Got suckered into on of those once... and only once.

Turn3, I can't believe people would take gypsy jobs like the one you posted about where the driver would get a cut of the load that was sold. I guess they can get anyone to do the work for practically free these days.

Well I was going to do one once from charlotte to greensboro paying $600 but when I got to charlotte rail yard the trailer was no where to be found so they paid me $150 for truck not used and $100 for sitting there 2 hours for them to find out the trailer was on its way from NJ not bad for 100 miles of bobtailing
