My company is serious about this kinda stuff. If you get a ticket for a seat belt or any thing else like that, you get fined up to $100 by the company, depending on the offense. Companies are serious about their CSA scores. If you get a ticket for a seat belt violation, it affects them and it's wholly your fault.

I think CSA is crap, but unfortunately it's the law... Sigh

Thats drivers story just proves the first point I made a along time ago.
Don't talk to the police and for god's sake never admitt anything.
Why would you make their job any easier at taking your hard earned money.
Now I know there should be one poster to come in and say oh but you was doing "wrong" by who's standards? Me not talking is using my rights to remain silent and settling it later in court. I would probably show up for court
with my truck and removeable seat belt cover to match my shirts.
Seatbelts are a good idea but there are times when they can hinder your requiered task. like backing, reaching accross seat and floorboard and getting out of truckstop parking lots. I've been thinking about marketing seatbelt covers adn my wife is a laid off seamsstress and we have two industrial sewing machines in the basement. "seatbelt covers to match your workware.

NEVER EVER approach a toll booth or a scale house with no seatbelt on. I unbuckle when I back but I don't thinks cops are in truck stops ticketing for no seat belts there. With zoom/camera technology, you are not going to "beat" a seatbelt wrap and don't test the judge's intelligence and patience by demonstrating a "matching seat belt cover".

    chrispolk76 Thanks this.

The human mind is the most falliable thing in the world ask
ten experts to examine something and write a conclusion, you will have more than one conclusion I'd wager you. As to the judge he's call the Trier of fact
if you was to have something covering the sealbelt and they can't prove it wasn't own at time you'd more than likely win. What most people fail to realize is a judge generally don't make a ruling that can be reveresed or easy overturned. Or you can ask for a jury at some trials given present atmosphere that most people have a resentment towards police you would win. A seatlbelt cover would be a lot better defense than saying I was looking for my map. If my job was on the line I'd go with the one that gave me the most chances of winning and most options for appeal. But like most people are programed to think like the establishment wants them too.
Listen to the "old wives tale" tell the police the truth is crap all it dose is make you the one who's screwed.
Keep your mouty shut and you fare better if you doubt that just look in the phone book and call a defense council or ask a policeman would he talk to the police?

    Blaming CSA for:

    A) Your ticket
    B) Your carriers reaction

Is both juvenile and ludicrous. However before I explain why I ask for a clarification. Why would a seat belt citation effect a CSA score?

    http://www.drivertraction.com/csa_points.xlsx

    Section: 392.16
Violation Description: Failing to use seat belt while operating CMV
    Violation Group Description: Seat Belt
    Violation Severity Weight: 7
    Violation in the DSMS: Y

In other words, a seat belt ticket is pretty serious...the equivalent (points-wise, anyway) of speeding 11-14 mph over the limit.

My time means something to me, I wouldn't waste time getting pulled over just to show the cop my fancy seatbelt covers. Which will also make them wonder what else your trying to hide.

Uhm yeah sure. If it was on an inspection report. Did I miss part of the story?

As I read it he said citation.

Aside from the fact that if his company is in that bad of shape maybe he needs a new one. Also that he admits he knew the policy and still drove without it.

CSA did not make his companies policy. They could fire you because your late, your grew a beard, you develope a smell, you get seat belt tickets, you get speeding tickets, you get bad inspections, your late once, any of a myriad of corporate decisions they feel would be detrimental to their company.

Assigning blame like this is like blaming your MVR for getting you in trouble for a speeding ticket.

How. About. Just. Wearing. The. ####. Seat. Belt.

I would appreciate it, since it will probably keep you in your seat when you hit the guardrail and bounce back onto the highway headed towards the oncoming lanes. If you've been tossed out of your seat and back into the sleeper, you can't keep your truck from hitting me.
