O.K. I think I have made my decision to go with Malone...I have requested that they send me a list of the starting securement equipment that they issue you in training it came to a total of around $1700 but it was dated about August 2011, if they finance this the total is like $2600
I have an old contact that works at Tarp Stop in my city that I stopped in to talk to and whom I trust and sent a copy of the list to him he gave me a price of around $2300....
The major difference was I would get (from Tarp Stop) 2 18x24 steel tarps 1 15x24 Lumbar Tarp that is interchangeable (?) and a coil tarp...200 bungee straps 100 21inch and 100 31inch (50 required from Malone) and coil pads (?) .... Everything else is the same ....
My buddy tells me that prices have gone up twice since the list was dated (salesmen speak) and this is the best price he can do .... I know that he will give me quality equipment and not junk... Im not sure what I will get from Malone
Opinions please...and not about Malone...if I don't like it I will activate my authority and do my own thing but I am new to flatbed and im stickin with this move

I am a shopper, Malone will get you financed for the gear and that would be less out of pocket in the beginning. Personally myself being indentured would not work for my way of doing things.
I would shop around more myself, have you thought of purchasing a bulk roll of bungee rope with hooks? You can make the lengths the way you like them and not be reliant on supply chains when one breaks, just a thought.MNdriver Thanks this. -
I really dont like the financing deal either....didnt consider the bulk roll but I kinda would just like to grab and go unless im losing a lot of straps
-
I keep a bundle of grab and goes but found making my own has a distinct advantage for most applications, whenever I was setting for a day or so I used that time to do all my little things.
It is brainless down time but keeping myself busy and saving money at the same time.MNdriver Thanks this. -
Call Steve at Tri City and see what he can do for you. At least you'll know if they are competitive. Since I guarantee CRST buys in major bulk, just pay cash with them if they do it for 1700 still.
SHC Thanks this. -
I am wondering if the tarps will be of the same quality though?
-
Just so you know, the Tarp Stop bungee cords do not have crimped ends either, so prepare a cinder block and a brass hammer lol
-
I have to crimp ends on my bungee cords?
-
Some come crimped others dont. A channel locks also works very well for crimping the ends.
-
Crimp the end that attaches to the cord so it doesn't rub on your tarp.SHC Thanks this.
