I overheard this story about a otr driver that has been out of trucking for 4 years now. He has to go back out on the road to make ends meet. So here is what he wondered?
If he knew someone that owns a company that has a DOT registered dump truck is there a way that company can report to hire right and say that this person worked for him for the past four years as a otr driver? Then he can start with experience and not go threw all the bs
will hire right know its a dump truck by the dot#? Do they even check?
Is there a way to do this? The owner of said company would say anything and fill out any paper work needed to help his friend out.
I thought to my self this would never work...or could it![]()

pull out the phone book, go check around the local places that ship stuff out and the local fuel stops.
Go check the local tire shops and ask for the local O/O.
I found a local company and after 17 years didn't have to go through the BS to get back on the road.
I found my job talking to a guy from our HAM radio club. He drives for the same company. -
Depends on how deep a background the company runs.
If they don't look to hard. He "might" get away with it.
But somehow I doubt it. -
Thanks guys..
nobody knows whats involved to report to dac or if they even check dot numbers? -
The new employer still has to get past verification from the"dumptruck"owner. If he's ever in an accident they could drag the old employer into it also.

I had the chance to talk to someone who worked for DAC before the transition, she told me that companies have a membership or registration with DAC to report.
I have zero reports on DAC or do they have any personal information about me, I requested a free report from them in December of 2011. If anyone can produce a reference to the fact they drove for a company most requirements are satisfied under the CFR requirements. -
I drove local for three years before going back to an OTR company that required to years OTR in the last three years. I just listed my company and position as driver. Everything verified no problem. Not with that company anymore, but I don't see why someone else couldn't get away with it.

If a carrier just uses a DAC report for employment verification they will be in for a rude awakening if/when audited.
-
True but many use it that way, with the economy shutting down small companies going out of business many drivers have no way of contacting previous employers and hire companies are in desperation anymore.
When the economy tanked desperate times ensued, companies closed up shop and some people have no way to validate employment. -
yea sounds easy enough..eh
so they did not ask what kind of driver or driving you did?
I would think they would want to know. I just had a copy
of my dac sent to me and it says who I worked for and
that I pulled reefer otr and was eligible for re hire.
So just saying your a driver would not work for someone
that checks with hire right before they hire you.
That is why he was wondering if his friend could post to dac
and say he has been OTR for the past 4years with his DOT#
that is on one of his several dump trucks.
Does hire right cross check the DOT# to what kind of truck it is?
really how would they know? As long as you jump through there hoops.
