O.K
Can I take Chantix and pass a DOT drug screen?
Assuming, of course, that my employer knows.
If anyone knows the definitive answer,I would appreciate any info.
Otherwise I'm going to have myself tied to a tree to quit
Thank you

Yes. You're fine. In fact, they'll look positive on it.
-
Thank you.
My DOT guy won't give me an answer. All he keeps saying is....
Well get the prescription and bring it to us and then we will see if its legal bla bla bla..
Huh? That stuffs EXPENSIVE! -
One guy got fired for taking thyroid meds.Huh?

There is a small chance that Chantix will cause a false positive reading. However the bigger problem is:
http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/statement-5-23-08.htm
Where the fmcsa does not want drivers taking Chantix. -
Thats what I originally thought. Maybe I should just call them and get information right from the source.....maybe I should go smoke a cigarette first........
-
O.K., I looked at it. Guess I'll just slap a patch on my forehead.

-
It's up to your doc. I took chantix, my doc and company were happy I was trying to quit. Had no problems.
-
Just quit. Wife used those wally world patches to help her, I used the Obamanations friggin speech about welfare babies and tobacco taxes

But no based off a FMCSA release commenting on the FDA's recommendations Doctors shouldn't be prescribing it to people in safety sensitive functions as their are huge side effects kinda like using methadone to kick smack. -
Everyone talks about the side effects, but I had none at all.
