I have heard it countless times in a terminal about how a Prostar has no "jake",,well it doesnt, but it does have nifty exhaust brake,,just have to understand how it really works, the following video was shot on MountEagle going east,,,6% grade,,45400 in the box, watch the dash,i never once touched the brake all the way down, all the while maintaining posted speed for loaded weight

High RPM's are the key. 1800-2000 from what I was told. Saddest part about though.....Con-way never told us that in the new truck class. Learned that tidbit at another company. Would have been really useful info to pass on to us newer drivers.

Had a student on a 9% on an indian reservation in New Mexico. I had him shoot for 1600 and don't touch the brake until 1900...he never braked. ECU, did the same with about 600 pounds less, 8th gear if memory serves, same mountain. I'm not ashamed to say, I leave the camera alone on those grades.

The pro stars are nice. I had to turn in my first one when I got sick, when I came back out, I rescued one over in Lauderdale. I think this one pulls better than my original and gets a few better 10ths/mile. Plus, the exhaust brakes are so quiet, I almost never turn them off, even when posted. Except when water is pooling of course.
