I use my GPS more for "gross navigations" and estimating how much time I have to get to some place.

I also use it for planning my stops and can run my clocks out to the max to get the most drive times in each day.

Other wise, I use Google Maps on the laptop for most of my route planning. Google Navigation on my android is the same routing and works well for me.

Otherwise. I print out the map of the consignee/shipper and use that once I get that close.

WOW we are so much alike in getting directions it is not funny. That is almost exactly what I do. With Google Maps & a laptop & the satellite view you can really see where you are going.

    MNdriver Thanks this.

I deliver to farms and contruction sutes....i use mine for seeing what roads are up coming. I call the other druvers in the company and ask how to get places. I used to rely on mine and then was loosing my mi.d when it wouldnt work

DO NOT get TOO COMFORTABLE with ANY GPS.

I still don't really like them myself, but "caved in" and bought one.

Mine, has the capability to switch from "truck route" to car routing. The truck route, of course will be a bit longer to follow, as it helps guide you where trucks are allowed. But I certainly will not trust it 1000%.

This is mostly due to the fact, I deliver in downtown Boston.

I have the 710 and so far I'm really unhappy with it. It's steered me down several non truck routs,(they all do that) and it takes 30 minutes to get a signal after I fire it up.

I've only had it for a month and to be fair I haven't called tech support yet, if I can get the 30 minute problem fixed my opinion might change.

At 400 bucks I expected a little more then a tomtom.

Should have been posted in support thread.

Does it do the same thing when out of the truck? Make sure you do not have any FM transmitters around it as we have found they do interfere with the antenna.

But, if it does the same out of truck, contact Rand Support and make sure you have your receipt.

    Thanks,
    Mark
