Hey Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could point out which divisions in trucking do most of the driving during daylight hours (7am-10pm)
I know most everything that has to do with food will be over night since it would have to be at the dock for unloading for the morning, but what about divisions like Car Haulers and some other divisions in trucking.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks

I think you'll find that not counting team operations, probably 80% of driving time can be done between 5:00 and 19:00 to make the usual appointment(s) [in "typical" regional/OTR truckload operations]. Some of your produce and meat deliveries will have bizarre appointment times, but depending on where you work you will probably see less of these than you may think.

Dedicated routes are often run at consistent times. Many during the day.

Well I have a dedicated route, but I drive by night.
To the o/p, there isn't any "division" regarding times per se. -
Aren't certain loads required to be shut down before dark. Was it oversize?

Yes, I do believe so. But in fact, over sized loads get the police escort at night time, over the GW Bridge.Pmracing Thanks this.

Regulations for Oversized loads vary State by State. They range from when you can run,if you need escorts, and such. Hazmat has quite a few restrictions as well. These range from route restrictions,to handling, and placarding . The rest is pretty much up to the driver as long as the load is delivered on time.Pmracing Thanks this.

Many variables here, such as what time you got loaded, when your delivery appointment is, how many days to get there, breakdowns, weather delays etc.
