Well I would take the WIA program if it were available to me... but it isn't, because I have a job, and the local (and highly rated) school near to me doesn't do payments. It's either straight up paid, WIA or financed with credit.

At this point, I'm seriously considering going with a Mega Carrier and using their training program (Swift, in particular). I know that OTR is gonna be what I'll be doing by going that route, but hey, seems like it would be a solid option at this junction.

Frustrating, cause I've been "paying into the system" since I was 15 as well and now that I could use a hand 12 years later, but because I'm working and not hurt / laid off, the door's slammed shut.

Sounds like some people think my tax dollars are only supposed to be used for 400 dollar hammers 600 dollar toilet seats and wild parties and hook ers for secret service agents. My wife and I both got let go from our jobs in January. We are both collecting unemployment. I went to truck driving school to get student loan and start school said check and see if you can get WIA. I did and took it. Am I ashamed for taking something that I am qualified to get no. School is 5000 about what I made a month at previous job. Should I dip into savings or 401 I don't think so. Are we eligible for food stamps No we make to much on unemployment. Would I take them if qualified yes.

Translation: "I totally have the money to pay for my own schooling in both my savings and 401k, but I chose to take free money instead"

This is what boils my blood....you admit having the money and resources to pay your own way yet you would rather take money that could help those truly in need.

I guess we tax payers should stop using these programs that have been developed to help us. That would surely free up more of our tax dollars tobail out banks and pay bonuses to their top executives. I am happy to report that i did not effect the 2.6 million dollars of our hard earned tax dollars we spent in china to make sure prostitutes drank less alcohol.

If people would quit using programs that they didn't need there would be less need for funding. I agree the bail outs and other wasteful spending should quit, they make my blood boil even more. The programs should be in place as a safety net not a first line defense.
