Just wondering what everyone thinks of Fed Ex freight now. I did a search and found some older threads but nothing too recent. I'm going thru the hiring process now. Already took the drug test, physical and road test. Just want to make sure I'm making the right choice.

If its local and the pay is good, its a good choice. Heard a lot of good about this company.

I am with Ground at the moment and have applied to Freight myself. The benefits are excellent. If you go line haul, you'll be casual for a while. But they should have enough work to keep you busy. I believe they start at .47cpm. I'm not sure what the local pay is for P&D.
You're not making a bad choice at all. Good luck.

It's going to be city to start and just have to wait for a linehaul to open up and try to grab one

freight is doing some big realignment, kinda like what yellow is doing. All the linehaul guys are worried as alot of the gravy runs might disappear. fedex also puts alot of freight on the rails, so alot of their drivers are sitting at home.q

thats about the only thing conway hasnt started yet, is this rail crap. But all the big players are using alot of cheap carriers like england, werner, crst to haul the freight, so that means less work for you. just something to think about.

A friend works on their trucks and trailers. Most of them are worn out beaters, FWIW. He has a lifetime job fixing the junk!

I see a lot of owner ops dragging sets in to Billings terminal rather than a fedex day cab if that tells you anything. However, all the city guys I talk to love it. Seems like a descent enough company. I know of a guy who was there 10 years and pulled off the pump with the hose in and spilled a little. Rather than just throwing some kitty litter on it and giving him a stern talkin' to they called the epa on themselves and fired him. You're just a number there.
