I'll be honest with you I've been to Perth and would love to drive all the different combos you have just a day or two. But I don't know thou, the way they treat us American fighting men and all I don't think I could stop drinking piss and stop being around all those beautiful women you have there. I don't think I'd get out of the pub. Well I did twice.

GasHauler said: ↑You know GH..in all the years I hauled fuel, I just never really got that good with a truck and trailer. I have no idea why, God knows I had my share of tight stations, but backing it up..as long as it wasn't over about 20-25 feet I was OK, but a few drops we had, I would almost hook the dolly on the trailer around the darn pumps. I watched a BP driver back OUT of the station on the corner of Third and Alvarado (downtown LA) the other night on my way to deliver LOX to St. Vincents Hospital. The guy was amazing..( just looked at my post..looks like I was delivering fish products to a Jewish Hospital..LOX=Liquid Oxygen)...wis bang said: ↑This setup has been used for years around the gasoline business. However, it's known as a truck and trailer and it's just a little different that what you say. It's a truck then hooked to the truck by way of a drawbar. There's no converter gear so it is different when you hook and unhook. The turn table under the trailer is permanently mounted so you always unhook at the truck. It's rerally a sweet setup when you have to get into tight spaces and is not hard to back at all. I have seen a set up like you're saying but never with gasoline on, mostly hot tar. I would also think they would be a bear to back since you add another pivot point. The truck shown in my Avatar is a truck and trailer and is 85' long.Click to expand...Click to expand...

Here's an old trick you can use but only with truck and trailers. Those black poles come out from nowhere. I think we all hate them. If you are close to with in a couple of inches you can do a trick we call hopping the trailer over. Make sure you have plenty of room on the left side of the truck. Pull up to where the fender almost hits the pole on the right side. Get your bucket out and fill it with water. Throw the water down on the deck right behind the duels on both sides up by the pole. Get in the truck lock your power divider in and go back not too fast pull down on the trailer brake and apply some power. It will cause your duals to side over far enough to pass the pole. JUST make sure there's nothing to hit on the left side of the truck. Do the same if it's your last duals. I've done it in a station and the people ran for the hills!!!
If you are pulling short pups then backing is a little harder. But it is still easier because there's only two pivot points ,one at the pintle hook and the second is up on the turntable. The shorter the drawbar the quicker the trailer will move (just remember that). We have drawbars that are 20' long and the trailers turns a lot slower. Hope it helps.
