Well We have a girl from the forum going to orientation monday after just getting her CDL from a driving school. Aso I was fired from a job a year ago (state job at that). Still working here, but they did get a good laugh about the story.

LTL and truck load are basically to different divisions, it's the same company but it's kinda like the army and air force.

At Freight it all depends on the location. The terminal that I was hired at didn't require experience but they only hired drivers with experience so I guess you had to have experience. I've worked at Freight for almost 9 years now, and until 3years ago, I knew nothing about the apprentice program and thought they only hired drivers with experience.

I can only speak for the Freight side, but I know there is no experience requirement to work here. I personally don't think brand new drivers should be running doubles, but we have a lot of million mile drivers here that have never driven anything but a CCX or Con-way truck.

I'm in the Philly area and Freight does hire new inexperienced drivers here. Most of the terminals also have training programs in my area. I'm not personally in favor of it, but from what I can see the training is pretty good and they generally seem to stick around once they finish the training..

I recently graduated from trucking school and am now sitting in Joplin for orientation. They hire recent grads for Truckload.

You people are lucky. I recently graduated from CDL school and haven't had luck getting on with Conway. I filled out the online application but haven't had anyone contact me. I would love to work for Conway. They except Newbie's but unlike the starter companies you don't have to move. You can make Conway your career company.
