I'm really considering starting my driving career with CF.
    - First of all, what can I expect to make my first year?
    - What kind of trucks would a new driver get, and what speed transmission?
    - What is the hiring process like? (Will they send a greyhound bus for me? Orrrr....?)
    - What things do you like about the company, dislike?
    - How are the trainers there? I want to learn as much as I can.
    - (general question) Do companies provide drivers with GPS, or is that up to you?
    - Where does CF usually haul to?
    - How many weeks do you work before you get time off?

I have my CDL, fresh out of driving school. I was told I'd have to take a 2 week training course for $1,000. I believe I'll have a 10mo. contract, is that right?

That's all I can think of right now. I might be leaving out for there terminal in GA next month, trying to get as much info as possible, so feel free to comment.....

I read that you have to be 23 to drive there. I'm only 21 at the moment. :biggrin_25521:

Central is as good as any company to strat driving. Orientation week. 4 weeks +- with trainer. First year do not expect much in terns of $. You can team or solo. same money for each I have found.
I liked everyone I worked with there. That goes a long way.
You are responsable for everything. That should be no surprice.
A good place to train. After 2 years start looking for a paying job.
They inspect and mantain their trucks well. You will probably get a late model with less problems.
Pay, again probably $20k 1st year. $35k second year if you lease a truck. If someones says differant you know something about them.
    Give it a whirl.

I just did the online app. for Epes. I had a bad experience with another company and have been gun-shy to get back in the game, but I really want a driving career. Crossing fingers! Can anyone tell me- if you were terminated from a non-driving position for bogus reasons (& yes, they were bogus reasons.) will they even look at you? Thanks.

Make sure you REALLY research that option!! My husband and I lease... It was the right decision for us, but it is a HUGE financial obligation!!
