Your definition of set-back sounds like caster to me.

    Something entirely different than set-back

Setback in alignment terms is the position of the right wheel in relation to the left wheel on the steer axle, right wheel being either forward of the left wheel at center steer or behind left wheel. In laymen terms, it shows if the axle is positioned square in the truck.

We defined that as thrust angle.

    Set-back was on like a T600 axle vs a W900

I always heard setback as bender described it.

Setback is the relationship of the front wheels to each other (one being forward of the other)

Thrust angle is more advanced in bringing the rear wheels into the picture and their relationship to the front by using the thrust line.

I would like to mention that after a proper alignment, it shouldn't need to be done again unless something is bent or worn out. After a truck is aligned properly, wear issues are usually from loose wheel bearings, shocks, improper inflation, etc.

Yop, you were right. I had never heard it called that.

Here are some of the other terms that are important.

Alignment is something I have done on my vehicle annually whether you think it needs it or not. Including rotates and balances.

I know I could sure have my cascadia's tires balanced, but that isn't my call.
