will having a car accident affect my record at all? i wasn't cited, the cop just wrote a report of the accident. total loss of vehicle, but no injuries, and it was only me involved.
just wondering if a company would find out about it or not, if not, i won't bother mentioning it.

Yes, it will more than likely show up on the MVR if it was at least 60 days ago. You can pay for and get your own MVR online just to make sure.

It's on your MVR, so yes. They will.
Even if you weren't cited, were you listed as 'at fault'? Or was it a deer, etc? -
With your limited info.........It is either preventable or non-preventable. You know the answer to that. Either way if a cop reported the accident it's on your record.

Basically I was coming home from work, I live an hr away and I'm tired, it's dark, 5 in the morning, etc. I'm in the right hand lane getting ready to exit and a tractor trailer is completely stopped infront of me, no flashers, no triangles, nothing. There is a shoulder to pull off onto, but he's only halfway on the shoulder and half into the right lane. I didn't think I had enough time to stop without rear ending him, so I swerve to the left, lose control because I'm going 60 mph on the highway, and I slam into a concrete wall. Car was a total loss, but no injuries. When I got out to go and ask the truck driver WTF his problem was, he took off.
I couldn't get the tag number of the truck driver, so my insurance had to pay for it. Had I not been so tired, had it not been so dark, I could have avoided it most likely, but at the same time, he shouldn't have been stopped in the middle of the road. My insurance paid for it, and I'm sure it'll look bad for me. This is the only incident I have had in the last 5 years, would it stop me from getting a job? Most companies say "CLEAN MVR", but they allow for an incident here and there, so who knows. -
Lot of holes in your story. Why did you not write down the Trucks #,name, ect. contact them. Pictures w/ a camera of the trucks parking. Why in the hell would a cop site an accident report on you for avoiding a collision of a illegal parked Comm. vehicle? I would be contacting an attorney about this whole matter. They would be buying me a new car and compensation. Your lucky to be a live. You must be young but you will learn.

I would love to know who did it, I wouldn't have let it go so easily, hell if my car was still drive-able, I'd have chased him down the road. But this isn't my question, I just want to know if a company will hire me based on having an accident in my car like this. -

just be upfront with them tell em what happen and let them decide , depend on your state should drop off in 5 years on mrv record then you can try again, but i would hit up all the small mom and pop outfits, theres plenty at my workforce here , i get one everyday from them and my record not clean ether, just be honset, there just asking a driver like you , if your gonna have any more accidents as they want there tractor -trailer not all beat up , if you run into stuff all the time, at lest that what i think they mean by a clean mvr record
