So I'm a new driver, fresh out of driving school. I'm in the process of looking for my first job. I found an 'independent contractor' for Fedex CC. By independent contract that means owner operator, correct? He said that he's not hired yet, as he needs another driver to go with him. I have my class A but he drives a class B straight truck I believe. Does anyone have any info on this? Or have questions I need to ask before I go talk to the guy in person?

    Thanks

I contacted them a few days ago because i am looking to be an independent with them but with a tractor trailer. They say they pay $2.48 loaded miles and $0.60 for deadhead and fsc on all miles. I believe you have to have 1 year experience before they consider you, but not 100% sure on that. Fedex cc is a good company from what i have heard, i have heard good and bad comments. Some drivers say they make you sit because they cant find you a load, and that could be up to a week or more.I am going to give them a shot and waiting to get every thing settled and should have my first load by sunday.Fedex has its advantages and disadvantages just depends on the person. If you dont mind being out for atleast 3 weeks at a time then fedex is for you. Good luck on your decision.:biggrin_25525:

Drivers for FECC fleet owners are also I/C's. It could be a driver looking for someone to team with . As a rule there isn't sufficient income in expediting for codrivers from different households. Most teams are husband/wife.

You need 6 months recent experience in the last 2 years.

Your truck has to be 8 years old or newer.

I was just sent the whole information packet from FedEx CC for becoming an I/C or O/O or whatever you want to call it.

Just going through the information now on it. Looks promising for a "new" O/O. I think it was this thread that got me to look into it.

It is best to drive for a fleet owner for six months to a year and learn the business before investing in a truck.

I am a Independent contractor for FECC. I have drivers hauling for me and they are a good company. Right now is the busy season so the money is really good. I am just having a hard time find a GOOD DRIVER...haha. Either way, try it out and see how you like it before you take someone else's word. I mean, what else do you have to lose?? Good luck...

Information I got from FedEx CC shows the truck only making 65,000 miles per year.

Tells me that's a lot of sitting when it's not busy.
