A warning to those out there that might be overweight by a little or a lot and considering a career with this company. Gordon orientation personnel will pick you out from the rest of the orientation class students to perform special D.O.T weight pickup testing. Once you get to the clinic you will go through the normal pee testing, Hair sample, Blood pressure reading, and sight chart reading. When the doctor is finished and states that you are okay (or passed) the doctor will ask you why are you going to physical therapy have you had surgery or an injury that requires therapy.
Don't know why? Since you are overweight you need to take weight pickup , strength testing when the others do not have to. This is called discrimination! You have been warned!

You seem to think this is only Gordon....most all companies do this. If you are overweight....your health and those around your truck are at risk...should anything happen to you due to your weight. Many ailments come from and are attributed to excess weight.
Perhaps you should do something about a condition that only you can remedy....your weight....once you get yourself back in better shape...you can look back and say...."Sure glad I took care of this!" -
discrimination ???? LMFOA !!

I have no empathy for fat truck drivers, as I am in shape and disciplined to watch portions. Quit using victim mentality and lose weight, overweight drivers are a real threat to the motoring public.
white bull and joseph1135 Thank this. -
You're hauling their freight in their equipment they have the right to choose who they want behind the wheel. Why wouldn't they want the best, healthiest drivers to represent their company? After all the customers see the drivers not the office people. Bottom line don't wanna be not hired because you're over weight don't be over weight.
joseph1135 Thanks this. -
Well if y'all want to ban "overweight" drivers that's fine by me. I'm tired of the bull anyhow and would be happy to collect a "disability" check. Write your congressman.
Or y'all could try just running your own life. -
Take care of yourself so you won't be a burden on the rest of us. Thank you.

I'm not advocating banning overweight truckers but I feel a company has the right to choose not to hire someone based on their health (I.e. being overweight)
